No Tarr??? WTF!!!!

Dennis Brian

the thing i love about the cannes site is u get to see the running times

Robin Hood and Wall Street 2 or about 2hrs and 20.

the new deoliviera is 94mins, pretty good for a 101 yr old man whose last film was under an hour
and the new woody allen runs 98mins, a good thing cause when they run longer they tend to be a bit boring

Ari

No Malick either. I’m assuming their films weren’t ready.

Or maybe the motto of this year’s fest is: Less Tarr, More Beckinsale.

Life as Fiction

Is there some rationale to Kate Beckinsale being in the jury that I’m unaware of?

Ari

They wanted a hot babe to offset Burton’s ugliness?

Dennis Brian

she is a huge international star
maybe they wanted to add some more stars to the mix since pitt and penn wont be there

Jesse Richards

I think Ari is on to something….

Pseudo-surrealist films are going to have a field day this year.

User de Faux-Fuyants

Den

Penn still might be there. He’s in Fair Game which is being screened.

Anyways it’s interesting to see a Kiarostami film in competition especially after I remember reading he wasn’t going to be showing any more films in comp. Going to be interesting what film Burton + Beckinsale + Del Toro pick.

Ben.

I don’t see Tree of Life on the list. This is going to upset quite a few people.

Joks

Gregg Araki still makes films?!?!!?? Do people actually watch them?

Life as Fiction

Den, frankly I’m shocked at how low the overseas box office receipts for her Underworld films are.

What is going to upset people as well is to see the CAMERA D OR (best first feature) jury headed by GAEL GARCIA BERNAL, director of one of the worst first features ever : DEFICIT

Dimitris Psachos

Kerrigan, Hong, Muntean and Xiaoshuai should have been on the official program.

Puiu too but i guess Amalric is more popular….

Yea Joks. Mysterious Skin is a near-masterpiece. Interesting to see that Socialisme is creditted as “FILM SOCIALISME” and its not presented as an omnibus film.
Very dissapointined in the lack of Tree of Life + The Turin Horse. Claire Denis is gonna whip that jury into shape.

Dennis Brian

Manouel de Oliveira will win. You heard it here first.
He has yet to make a bad film, at least in the last 25 or so years

Damn, no new Cam Archer film.

Cam Archer should go to the Fortnight
