I and a few friends (Ike, Enghebatu, Khosoo) organize a film screening every Sunday, which we call it The Dreamers’ Day. It’s been organized since last September in a public place, for free. So far we’ve screened 18 films, this month being titled as “February – Great Film Adaptations”. But they’re no 17mm or even 35mm films or anything, just plain video files or DVDs :P
If you’re by any chance here in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, drop me a line :)
Someone’s snapshot:
And after I watched The Dreamers just two weeks ago, I wanted a real cinematheque here :). What we were doing was just the beginning, and we must progress. The current place we’re screening has too much light, noise, etc. So a special place is certainly needed.
If you’ve been to other cinematheques, or operate one, then please share your experiences. What are the essential characteristics of a cinematheque? Any copyright issues, translation/dubbing, pricing, film formats, and other information I should be aware of?
