whenever i see robert redford in films like butch cassidy, i always picture him as a brad pitt of that era. not so much in terms as acting, but more in the roles he played and his looks.
Richard Windmark = Kevin Spacey
who’s Toshiro Mifune that’s what I want to know!
Toshiro Mifune?
Probably Jean Reno.
remake of Rashomon with Jean reno….love it
@ Brad S.
In what way?
hugh grant = cary grant (with worse taste in material)
stallone=charles bronson (with worse taste in material)
hugh grant = cary grant (with worse taste in material)
What an insult. Cary Grant is the greatest actor in the history of cinema. Hawks and Hitchcock built their greatest monuments around him.
@ Dan – They’re both natural at combining menace and intelligence.
I like it.
Joe Pesci = Edward G. Robinson
That black actress whose name I can’t think of (she always has an “attitude” and is often cast as a housekeeper/servant) = Thelma Ritter
>>hugh grant = cary grant (with worse taste in material)<<
Isn’t it weird that as Grant became more famous & could, theoretically, have his pick of any project, the films got worse (witha few exceptions along the way).
I meant hugh grant has worse taste in picking material
sorry for the mixup
grants did some silly movies (that touch of mink, walk dont run) but I always like them despite myself
Cary Grant can’t be compared to any other actor. That’s cinematic blasphemy.
Montgomery Clift = Mark Ruffalo
james franco as james dean
Parvulesco
A question: Which current actor/actress do you think serves as a good modern equivalent to a legendary classic actor/actress?
For instance,
Tom Hanks as the new Jimmy Stewart
George Clooney as the Cary Grant
