You read that Kubrick liked it, didn’t you?
I remember reading about this a few years ago. And then something last night made me remember about this film. I used to see the VHS cover at a friend’s house years ago when I was like 13. I guess I stumbled across my copy of Cost-Gavra’s “Missing.” And seeing Melanie Mayron’s name on it made me remember. How’s that for a recall?
Anyways, do you have any feedback on the MTO DVD from Warner Archive?
Oh, I don’t know a thing about the movie outside of that piece of Kubrick marginalia.
I should forward this post to the thread about why Mubi is so great.
It’s a speckled, unrestored print but it is in widescreen format so it’s an improvement over the VHS. It’s also an extraordinarily perceptive film that should be seen by everyone. Too bad Kubrick didn’t learn anything from it:)

Thanks Mike Spence. I’ve decided to purchase a copy from a seller on Amazon. Figured I need to see this since I’ve wondered for a long time about this film. Interesting enough, what you said about Kubrick. His films have that trademark clinical detachment: Cold, Aloof, Icy and some of them unfolding with the pace and preciseness of a laboratory experiment. But I love Kubrick. One of a kind film director.
It would be nice if Weill’s “Girlfriends” got the full restoration work it needs though.
Sorry, I think I hit the Post Reply button twice.

Has anyone seen this little film?
Any comments on Warner Archive’s Made-To-Order DVD for this title? Sound…Picture Quality?
