Cinema paradiso end scene is mentioned. What about the kissing scene in the rain? ;)
PS- what tags to use for posting video?
This will always be my favorite:
Notorious and Vertigo !
I want to mention the kiss in Lost in Translation but it was more of a platonic thing so I hesitate. Still emotional, but not in a romantic way.
@odilonvert: I thought KISS Saves Santa was better :P
<url=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQutB3mYc84”>This gets me every time. sigh
*I couldn’t format it…
what movie is the gif Drew posted from?
she is doin it right.
^ That’s Rear Window, Mogambo.
“Tell Mama …. tell Mama all …”
“Kiss me as if it were the last time”
Er… I may sound silly, but where is the kiss from the opening post taken from?
My vote goes to this one.
The moment when they are done locking lips, and stare into each other’s eyes.
Lawdy lawd sooooo delicious.
And to the posters criticizing the music and slomo earlier ITT….come on now…it’s all about the mood. perfect.
Oh God I HATED Cinema Paradiso. (sorry)
I can understand not sharing the same enthusiasm for Cinema Paradiso that many (majority) have, but to hate it seems odd.
It’s not odd, it’s a gut reaction. It takes everything stereotypical about Italians and maximizes it. The music during that scene was nauseating. If it had been silent I would have found it slightly better, but even so.
Mind you, Mogambo, I use extreme statements when I express how I feel about something. Please don’t say “hate is a strong word” because I will just laugh at that.
It’s already been mentioned, but the greatest kiss in film history needs to be seen.
LOL mind you though my statements above may make me sound like a pompous ass, I really am not! :D (+ all those other emoticons from emoticonia)
(EDIT — must stop using “mind you”)
Using that logic, I would assume that you don’t care much for The Godfather either.
i didn’t have a problem with the original score, it was just the song choices. mainly the hero song
as for the mood, etc. it was just too corny, and over the top for me in all the wrong ways.
No, I actually like The Godfather.
Don’t try to figure me out with “logic.” ;)
@J over the top or understated? the only over the top parts were the violence. the tone of the film was anything but over the top. you’re either going to buy into gosling and mulligan staring @ each other with 80s themed music (all produced post 2008) or you’re going to think it’s retarded. but it does what the director intended for those scenes to do. which is to show those two characters communicating without words.
I’ve been accused of being an asshole many times in my defense of Drive and films like it that rely on unspoken truths between characters. I feel like there are certain films that will always turn people (the masses) off because it relies on you picking up on emotions between characters that are impossible to spell out. Lost in Translation falls into this category. As a fan, I just can’t explain why the scene where Murray and Scarlett are lying on the hotel room bed talking about … life … is so fucking good. If you don’t feel it, you’re going to think it’s boring as hell.
Another one of the best…
Oh, so that’s where it was taken from! I thought it was from some other art house film of the 2000s, but I would have never guessed it was ‘Drive’. Well, I dont’ know, I disliked that movie way too much to appreciate that kiss…
the reconciled brother and sister in u.s. go home.
There are some pretty great osculations in this one.
I just watched Blade Runner.
Epic kiss scene.
“Vertigo” has the best kiss in a film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q8VhPT-VcM
A more unique choice would be the off-screen kiss on the stairs in “An Affair to Remember”.
