Awesome. If it’s half as imaginative as SPEED RACER and with a sense of humor a touch less stupid, it will be amazing.
Tykwer, FYI. Unless we’re referring to some other, unknown character named Tom Tyker.
As long as they keep experimenting visually I couldn’t care how dumb their stories are, although the disdain towards Speed Racer may unfortunately cause them to take an aesthetic step backwards.
Yeah, SPEED RACER really excelled visually, I thought, but it sure was dumb overall….such an incredible disparity between the intelligence inherent in the content versus the execution. I still hope they don’t take a step backwards, but keep amping it up. Just. Better. Stories! Please!
Is it Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas?

“Is it Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas?”
Looks like it. Unless its Liam Callanan’s ‘The Cloud Atlas’ which I doubt since it doesn’t involve the future.

I can’t imagine Cloud Atlas being done as a movie. If it were done, and faithfully, it would only appeal to a small minority of intelligent viewers.
I’m sure it will look good on acid.
Enjoyed the novel. Not too enthusiastic about this project, but I’m not completely closed to the idea, either.
it is Cloud Atlas. It is by Tom Tykwer. I cannot wait to see it — the book seems unfilmable (and I loved it).

Looking up Larry (or Lana) and Andy Watchowski’s next project I found that they recently shot some footage with Ariana Huffington. To which I rolled my eyes, I will say nothing about Ms. Huffington’s views. I will just say that she is someone who is actually far more interesting then her opinions.
On her twitter page she mentioned that the movie had to do with a perspective on Iraq from the future. I thought GREAT, I hate it when movies attempt to predict the future. Even though I love science fiction there is something about futurism that annoys me. They are either ridiculously way off (Back to the Future Part II_) or if they only serve to highlight how much we have failed as a species (_2001: A Space Odyssey).
I did some more research and it looks as if it is part of an adaptation of the book ‘Cloud Atlas’ and the screenplay is written by Tom Tyker. I looked up the book and it seems interesting. I noticed some of the users here listed it as one of their favorites. I wonder how they would react to hearing the Watchowskis and Tyker are involved in the adaptation. Looks like this should be a movie that is ambitious on the level of Griffith’s Intolerance.
