Comfort Movies

Like food, I feel like some movies that I loved and watched a million times during my childhood just make me happy and put me in a good place,no matter how lame, strange or immature they are. I have recently been buying up a bunch of 80s movie that I remembered loving as a kid and here are some of my comfort movies:

Streets of Fire – Dafoe and Pare are such bad-asses in this movie. The sound track is killer. Movie Guaranteed to make me smile
Big Trouble in Little China – How can you not like this movie?
The Monster Squad – A ridiculous movie, but great. One of the cooler Were-wolfs ever committed to film
The Toy – Funny flick. Even funnier now that I get all the racial stuff

I could go on for a bit longer, but I’ll stop now. What do y’all think and what are some of your “comfort” movies…

High Fidelity is one. It’s funny, smart, well acted, and the music is important to me. I also love stereo equipment and vinyl and it fulfills some of that for me too.

I came up in the 80s and some films carry the zeitgeist of the time: Paris Texas, Stranger Than Paradise, and Wings of Desire come to mind.

I could go on and on. And BoogieBoy, I remember skipping school and seeing Big Trouble in Little China at the local theatre with my best friend. We had no idea what it was, but damn we thought it was great at time. :)
