Create Your Own Director's Cut!

Let’s face it: every now and then, a director hates the fact that people edit his/her film to make it more commercially viable. So he waits until the DVD release to put out his own version (or wait a decade to release it to theaters, but that’s rare). DCs can go both ways in my opinion, but there are some in which a few modifications are needed to get it right. Here are some DCs I want to change:
(All scenes are ordered chronologically)

Aliens:

KEEP
- Ripley’s daughter scene
- “Hudson explains the arsenal” scene
- Any scene regarding the sentries (my favorite DC scenes ever)
- Newt and Ripley talking about babies scene
And everything else

KILL
- The colony scene where people are shown alive
- Newt’s family scene
- The soldiers talking about the queen scene
- Ripley and Hicks saying their first names (gives a romantic subplot that kills the tone)

If you want comparisons, go here.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day:

KEEP
- Orderlies abusing Sarah Connor scene
- The part where Michael Biehn appears except…
- The Connors operating on the Terminator scene
- The Terminator smiles wide scene
And everything else minor

KILL
- …the part where she runs out to the playground
- T-1000 killing the dog
- Dyson and the processor scene
- T-1000 touching the railing
- T-1000’s feet connecting the ground

@ BIJOUX “Cinema Paradiso: Kill the Director’s cut.”
Yes!

RAN-
– kill some, or reduce scenes of Hidetora’s madness in the field
– add some of Takemitsu’s unused score
DAWN OF THE DEAD-
– kill the theatrical version
– keep Romero’s cut, add more Goblin tracks

@the dude, i cannot watch a version of T2 without the playground scene. good or bad it’s just gotta be in there.

@neonbear: You do know what I’m talking about, right? The one where after imagining Reese, she runs out of the psychiatric and just outside is the playground? Yeah, it was just one too many…

@nightshift: I think Zaratozom should’ve been used more often, but man, I don’t like Goblin’s music much in the movie (on the international versions). I haven’t seen the American DC; can you look for a website that compares the theatrical to the DC?

To create a Director’s cut you have to make a film first.
