Criterion Coming Soon and Discussion Redux

Drunken Father Figure of Old

Don’t make Cinesnag regret publicly revealing that emails to Criterion go to his inbox, Nathan! :P

Nathan M...

Cinesnag is an autonomous being and is free to not answer my questions. No harm in asking, though.

CineSnag

LOL!!!

You guys should just follow me on Twitter @snag2772

Maybe some of the pictures there will reveal more secrets. I don’t really know. I’ve lost the ability to speak and understand English.

Ten bucks says they announce new titles today. It’s always the friday after the tenth I’m tellin’ ya.

Santino

I work with Criterion in a very Kevin Bacon kind of way. My words are truth!

Bandlands is no trolling!

Santino

Criterion just filed for bankruptcy. I guess that means no release news today.

Oh well.

Nathan M...

How do we collect Weasel Man’s ten bucks? I think it should be evenly distributed to anyone who has commented on this page up until now. I take four dollars, Santino takes four dollars, Drunken gets 2, and Cinesnag doesn’t get any because he has insider information.

Santino

Yeah, Weasel Man is going down. Hard.

Judicial Joe

Santino, you troll.

I think it should be split 7.50/2.50 between Santino and Nathan.

Santino

Just give it all to Nathan – he needs the money.

Drunken Father Figure of Old

Wait…. Criterion didn’t really file for bankruptcy, did they?

Rock and Bull

What film is that still from?

Mathew (sic)

It’s not a film. I looked up ‘stock market crash suicide’ and found it…

Drunken Father Figure of Old

I think they’re gonna be announced today… predictions, anyone?

Brad S.

Some still left from the 2012 drawing:

Quadrophenia
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Weekend
Breaking the Waves

They hinted a blu of Grey Gardens a few months ago.

Drunken Father Figure of Old

Yeah, maybe the reason they haven’t hinted anything this month is because everything they’re releasing has already been hinted at… hopefully not!

BRAD - E

The last 2 months they were late in announcing. Seems odd there have been no hints.

I’m going to guess Grey Gardens (Blu upgrade), Down by Law (Blu upgrade), Eatiing Raoul, Purple Noon, Le Havre and Breaking the Waves.

Drunken Father Figure of Old

Looks like they’re uploading them now… I caught a glimpse of an upgraded Down By Law before not seeing it on the coming soon page…

Drunken Father Figure of Old

>:0 I think it might only be upgrades and Le Havre this month! Please still be uploading them, Criterion!

Santino

Wow, really?

Whit Stillman BD upgrades? You gotta be kidding me.

Santino

So La Havre is the only new movie?

Down by Law, Metropolitan, Last Days of Disco and an Eclipse set that nobody cares about.

Drunken Father Figure of Old

I see an eclipse set now, too… but it doesn’t sound like my cup of tea…

Roscoe

METROPOLITAN and LAST DAYS OF DISCO on BluRay for some reason — man oh man, the money I’m saving on Criterion purchases.

Santino

I guess that’s it. Man that’s insane. Easily the worst announcement since I’ve started buying Criterions in the early 2000s

Brad S.

Are they fucking kidding!

Note to Criterion – Blu upgrades should be a supplement to new releases, not a replacement of them.

Drunken Father Figure of Old

It’s official now: July titles suck. No wonder there were no hints.

I’m sending an email to Cinesnag.

Santino

I guess I know what I’m buying in the B&N July sale – a whole lotta nothin’!

Santino

Whit Stillman is a prissy little pomp. If Criterion thinks it’s going to benefit from the release of Damsels in Distress, they got another thing coming.

BRAD - E

Nice list.

Count me in for Down by Law, La Havre and Eclipse;Jean Grémillon During the Occupation.
