guess you don’t have to ask about In mood for me then santino ;-)
had a feeling this would be released sooner or later. it’s guaranteed to sell like crazy
Criterion must hate me, because I can see the “October Titles Announced!” thing on the front page, but when I click to look further, there’s nothing new. Whatever, Criterion. I’ll just watch the Rosemary’s Baby DVD that I already own.
^Yeah, I think they’re in the process of updating the site. I see the same thing.
TM is very involved in Badlands w/Criterion, it won’t simply be just a Blu-Ray release.
I think we just found one more thing to complain about with Criterion! Yes!
I mean, c’mon, guys! This is like a bad striptease.
Either way, In The Mood For Love and Rosemary’s Baby are great additions to the C.C
i’ll be picking up both.
It looks like:
Rosemary’s Baby
In the Mood for Love
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Some Albanian film
Except for the Albanian thing, no surprises here at all.
Same here. It’s driving me up the fucking wall!
Badlands and Breaking the Waves are going to take some time.
If Criterion had any smarts, they’d buy Laurent’s recent doc on Polanksi and put it on the Rosemary’s Baby release.
If Badlands is really coming out on Criterion, does that mean it’s an exception as far as the Warner catalogue goes, or that it will be possible for C.C to release more Warner titles in the future?
^I have no idea what WB’s policies are. All I can tell you is that Criterion is doing Badlands.
^^They don’t give up their titles easily, tha’ts why many gave up on the idea that C.C would ever release Badlands.
They’re just trolling, its Eraserhead!
Badlands will be especially attended to by the director
Then maybe Badlands is an exception. Malick is an exception to everything (for instance, you can go to AFI and watch any alumni’s student films – except for Malick’s).
Will definitely be picking up In the Mood for Love and Rosemary’s Baby. Looking forward to Badlands, Breaking the Waves, and Y Tu Mama Tambien.
Does anyone know if they have any plans to upgrade any Dreyer films to blu-ray?
Apparently The Passion of Joan of Ark just got announced by the Masters of Cinema series today. Dunno about Criterion though.

Fuck, they removed the announcement.
Final Tally:
The Forgiveness of Blood
Rosemary’s Baby
Sunday Bloody Sunday
In the Mood for Love
Eclipse Series:Three Wicked Melodramas from Gainsborough Pictures
The dude: they removed the announcement because the covers have been posted!@
Kind of a weak month but the Rosemary’s Baby announcement is fun. I haven’t seen Sunday Bloody Sunday so maybe I’ll catch up on that one.
Who cares about BD upgrades? I got more important things to worry about.
Ok so since it has been confirmed that Rosemary’s Baby is going to be spine #634, what will be spine #666? Do you think Criterion has the balls to release The Omen? That seems to be the most natural fit.
The Omen’s got a pretty impressive mainstream release already. More Criterion’s style might be Ken Russell’s The Devils.
^ Oh yeah, I forgot about the Devils.
This Rosemary’s Baby cover is really disappointing. I thought they would do something more creative. What’s the point in even buying it if the cover is pretty much the same as the dvd copy I already own? ;)
EDIT: The extras are pretty weak, too… I think I really will end up just passing on it. Maybe I’ll change my mind if I see that the transfer is a million times better, but the pre-existing dvd seemed alright to me….
Agree with Drunken Father. I love Rosemary’s Baby enough that I was planning on upgrading which I rarely do, but with the weak extras and weak cover it’s not worth it. Such a bummer.
The Devils is stupid.
sorry
This Rosemary’s Baby cover is really disappointing.
Quoting for truth. But the most disappointing announcement is The Forgiveness of Blood. I thought it was disappointing, albeit serviceable, compared to Maria Full of Grace. It doesn’t deserve the treatment one bit.
