Fine. The Devil’s Rain then.

@Drunk – The Rosemary’s Baby poster is a classic movie poster. Any other cover would be blasphemous.

And how are the bonus features weak? You get a feature length doc on Komeda?! I’m excited.

The Devil’s Rain sounds good to me!

Santino

The Forgiveness of Blood is just an IFC obligation. I wouldn’t pay much attention to it.

Man, wish I loved Rosemary’s Baby; that cover art kicks ass.

Anyway, I probably won’t pick anything up that month.

Honestliy, on second thought, Rosemary’s Baby is not a definite for me. I’ve noticed that when it comes to Polanski, his movies don’t stand up too well on repeat viewing. that has at least been my experience of them. and i’m not really one of those genre nerds that likes to sit around and compare frames. He is popular with those kind of cinephiles. hehe

his thrillers, in particular, often drag for me after i’ve seen them once. then again, tha’ts just thrillers in general for me.

Santino – Yeah, I mean, I think it’s a pretty good poster, but I would have appreciated something I haven’t already seen a million times. Even so, they’ve released a bunch of movies that have classic posters but with a different cover. If they really loved that cover so much, they could just sell it in their store.

And Forgiveness of Blood doesn’t sound that great… I wasn’t particularly impressed with Maria, Full of Grace, so…

In The Mood for Love on BD…. YES PLZ

Maria Full of Grace was cool in that tele-movie-of-the week kind of way. i enjoyed it but it wasn’t anything overly special. Did not get the hype for it at the time although it’s obviously an interesting story

People dissing the Rosemary’s Baby cover are insane. Santino is right. The poster is classic and doing something else would be wrong.

Honestly, if Rosemary’s Baby had a more personal place in my heart, I’d buy this poster and hang it over my dining room table. It just kicks ass.

^ Yeah I thought it was a good story, just not amazing. It was a pretty solid movie, but nothing to write home about. Criterion’s summary doesn’t make it sound that great if you weren’t crazy about Maria. And usually they do a pretty good job at making terrible films sound like cinematic masterpieces.

I actually have this Rosemary’s Baby poster hanging on my wall. It’s in my bedroom hanging above my bed.

It’s one of my favorite posters of all time.

Another month gone by, another ho-hum new release announcement from Criterion…

CineSnag

I wonder if this explains the gap in the spine numbers…

Just sayin…

Mathew (sic)

Yeah, four spines is absent.

Wait. Cinesnag. Is that real? Oh my. Is that real?

Oh and reading up Sunday Bloody Sunday I am very excited for that release.

Joks

i don’t get the love for that Pasolini trilogy. I rewatched Canterbury Tales earlier this year and it honestly plays like a Fellini movie directed by Larry Flynt or Alfred E.Newman.

if that’s your idea of a good time then be my guest but i thought it was pointless and stupid and not all that formally impressive for me to ignore all the things that are wrong with it.

Decameron wasn’t bad from memory

Down by Law and the much awaited In the Mood for Love …

Hollis Frampton any good?

Brad S.

A three film gap in spine numbers, you say?

Drew.

Joks, I’ve yet to see them. I’ve just been anticipating their release.

Just noticed they’re on NetFlix WI though so I’ll be able to weigh in soon. Even if that release is fake.

Brad.S you serious?

Joks

^^That’s ok Drew, i’m just ranting as usual ;-)

I do like some Pasolini films a lot though.

That Pasolini cover looks legit to me.

No. Just wishful thinking.

That Pasolini cover is beautiful.

Maybe I’ll watch The Decameron tonight.

As far as Pasolini goes so far I’ve loved Teorema, deeply respected Salo, and moderately liked Accattone.

CineSnag

Like The War Trilogy – the set will be given it’s own spine number, then the three films will each have their own respective numbers.

Or that’s the rumor I heard over by the jungle gym…

Is that box art official? Will it be a November release?

Tampering with that Rosemary’s Baby artwork would have have sacrilegious (yikes!)

I tried and look…even the original hardcover art pales next to that poster

Santino

^Kinda looks like the poster for The House of the Devil. lol

I’m happy with Rosemary’s Baby,but wtf why no commentary…..come on son,smh
