You’re the only one, Alex.
Kidding. I’d definitely like:
Robocop
Spinal Tap
Flesh for Frankenstein
Blood for Dracula
How to get ahead in advertising
John Woo’s The Killer-definetely could use a blu ray release.
Bob le flambeur, The Seventh Seal. The Third Man. (Kidding on the last one.)
Like Shotzi, The Seventh Seal is a must, and will probably happen soon. I’d love to finally see the long-rumored re-release of Andrei Rublev, and The Red Shoes.
I also want all of these on blu-ray, obviously… especially The Red Shoes.
I’ll second Andrei Rublev.
The Red Shoes
Diabolique
The Seventh Seal
The Hitchcock films “Notorious,” “Rebecca” and “Spellbound.”
I second The Killer, damn Dragon Dynasty and their release, preordered my shit 2 years ago and after a while they cancelled it, and the release is still in the air. Just have to stick w/ my old Fox Lorber copy for now.
Restored print of THE SCARLET EMPRESS. Film isn’t oop, but the transfer Criterion is putting out just isn’t up to standard.
The Seventh Seal is getting the Blu-Ray treatment.

Definitely Robocop and Andy Warhol’s films!
Seventh Seal/Grand Illusion/Good Morning
The Night Porter, please
The Dreamers
Velvet Goldmine
And something of John Waters, like Pink Flamingos or Mondo Trash
ANDREI RUBLEV
SOLARIS
THE RED SHOES
BRAZIL
THE DREAMERS
ORDET
Beauty and the Beast Blu-Ray. And Picnic at Hanging Rock on Blu-Ray.
The Night Porter screams out for a redo from Criterion.
I recently rediscovered the film while I was bored at a mom and pop rental store and fell in love with it – as one would fall for a film of its controversial caliber –for its abysmal beauty and the daring performances from Bogarde and Rampling (who put many of today’s “beauties” to shame back in the day). I would love nothing more than to own the film, but at the same time, I feel it is probably the worst Criterion on the market because of the exclusion of ANY features whatsoever and the lacking non-anamorphic transfer.
The Red Shoes
Andrei Rublev
Naked Kiss/Shock Corridor
The Passion of Joan of Arc
The Last Temptation of Christ
Sisters. That movie needs a five disc box set of goodies!
Fredo, What’s the most discs that a regular one version (no Fanny and Alexander, Brazil, The Leopard, etc.) film has received? I’m fairly certain it is 3 discs for The Battle of Algiers, which by the way I started watching the special features today for.
I’d love to see a blu-ray edition of any of the following…
Le Cercle Rouge
Le Samourai
Bob Le Flambeur
Contempt
Throne of Blood
High and Low
Charade
basically anything by Jean Pierre Melville.
Drew – I think you’re right about Battle of Algiers. I can’t think of any other Criterion releases that are more than three discs for one singe film.
Good luck getting through all those Special Features. Even I haven’t watched them all yet.
Fredo, Its going to take me a long time, because I hate the movie. Well I love the movie, but I hate how it makes me feel. That movie makes me hate the world, and everyone in it, which is pretty damn impressive for a movie.
It’s depressing but it’s also fascinating, especially the history of the French in Algeria. I knew next to nothing about that stuff and there are some really good docs on that DVD talking about the real life stuff going on. I recall one interview with Richard Clarke that was particularly enlightening because of his comparisions to our involvement in Iraq.

Am I the only one who is dying for criterion to re-release Tokyo Drifter and Branded To Kill in new editions that the image isn’t boxed in on widescreen TV.
Maybe even new artwork/packaging.
what criterion dvds would you like to see re-released.
