my vote is for 2, but i prefer metal to punk so in that sense i’m incredibly biased ;-)
Yeah, I’m wondering if that is what is going to decide it. I totally prefer punk to metal
I like both punk and metal and both films. I’d go with 2 for pure entertainment value though even though none of the bands in it are actually ‘metal’ just glam rock retards except Megadeth is in it…. for the last 6 minutes.
For me the quality of the films were separate from the quality of the music. The first film only featured one band that I would consider great (X), but it was more interesting because the punk movement was actually about alienated, politically motivated and some truly strange people. Musically, I’ll take Aerosmith and Ozzy over Black Flag and Fear (although The Clash would have tipped the scales the other way), but its so much more interesting to see the lead singer of Fear start a physical fight with his audience that hear established rock stars talk about partying.
2 is much more entertaining and well-done. I prefer 1 because I like X.
Both are good, but 1 feels unfocused and I don’t like most of the punk people. I actually think they’re kinda stupid and repulsive. Still, I can’t help but like 1 better.
Maybe 2. 2 is better.
Damn, this is hard…
1 feels more pointed
2 is more free form.
I like two and u get to see Ozzy make breakfast in it
As i said before, i personally like the first one. Not only because i pefer punk over metal but because the first film seemed to be more DIY, indie and much more raw. It’s very intresting getting to know the bands and william pope has a point some of the people may seem repulsive and stupid but they stood up what they believe and didn’t give any crap about what ppl thought of them (excuse my language). For me i felt the 2nd part was too flashy and just focused about rock stars that worried more about drugs and how many women they could get in bed.
1
i like the first one but TDOWC2 is way more entertaining. there’s something about seeing a burnt out rock star floating drunkenly on a raft while his mother watches from the side as he chugs bottles of liquor and laughs at his overindulgence that i can’t help but love

So from Elyzabeth’s thread on music documentries, here’s a question:
Which is the better Decline of Western Civilization, I or II? And is that because you think it is the better film or because you like the style of music better?
