I began watching Dekalog last week and is almost done. I still have to watch parts 8-10 but I want to know what you guys think of the series? Which ones are your favorites? Which ones don’t you like, if any?

I thought it a brilliant accomplishment, but not every segment effected me the same. Some were slower or just not as interesting as others, but I don’t want to analyze it now on a case by case basis. I prefer the more condensed Three Colours trilogy, but there are still many effective moments in this that could only come from this great director.

Love Dekalog – probably in my Top 5. The first 2 are my faves, despite the greater fame of 5 and 6. The first just blew me away.

Kieslowski’s Dekalog is a unique masterpiece. All episodes are equally great. A true determinist at heart.

I’ve only watched it once and loved it all but the first and the one about killing and love were my initial favorites. A monumental work such as this must be watched many times before it can be fully appreciated. I’d put this in the top 10 achievements of film history, along with Berlin Alexanderplatz and a few others. Kieslowski’s long shots are some of the most effective i’ve ever seen.

I agree with Bob Stutsman that not every segment affected me the same, but what was really interesting is what segments eventually stuck with me as opposed to what I thought would stick with me. The one about the daughter and father questioning their relationship is still tumbling through my head, some years after I’ve seen it… whereas I know there are huge gaps of stuff that I’ve forgotten about that at the time I thought was amazing (and it was amazing). But overall I really love that miniseries, and I still think about buying it from time to time (I totally lost my opportunity to buy it, once, for ten dollars, and I’ve been kicking myself ever since).

I enjoyed all of them. There are so many life lessons once could learn from those films that its truly extraordinary. I wish I could have seen them on television when they were first televised.

I cherish this set. I get back to watching it off and on at random times but it certainly seems to fit that specific mood like nothing else. I wish CC would revamp this up and package it all beautifully though…that would be great.

I can say that there are very few treasures I adored so much that I wish to keep beside my pillow when I sleep.
Seeing Dekalog each time is cleansing the soul and conscience once more to me.

The Dekalog is brilliant filmmaking shining through the bleakness of Soviet Era Poland.

I thought it was very strong overall, though some moved me more than others. In particular I liked 6, 9 & 5. If I had to single out one that must absolutely be seen it’d probably be 5. However, I also really liked #1 (unforgettable, esp. that child actor), #10 was surprisingly good and was such a good closer to the series, #7 was just heart breaking (actually, just about all of them were) & #4 was absolutely great (in fact, I can totally understand someone loving this one the most, it was just so….ah!). The only thing I will say is that I thought 3 was a little weak compared to all the other ones, though it might just be me. Anyways, one of the most brilliantly written films I’ve ever seen, so profound, so moving.

I love the series. My favourite episodes are definitely 4 and 1 though I also absolutely loved 5, 6 and 9. The weakest is without a moment’s doubt 8, though I’m not over the moon about 7 or 10 (though they’re both great).
