Del Toro coming to CRITERION this fall

I’ve been away for a bit so let me apologize right now in case this has been discussed; it seems to me the scarab on Criterion’s latest email refers to CRONOS.
Any opinions?

Chronos is still my favorite of Del Toro’s films.

I concur: Cronos is still the best Del Toro film.

Meh. I guess I let this one get too hyped up before I finally checked it out.

Of course, if Criterion gives it the HD treatment, I’ll definitely be giving it another shot.

I reassessed Cronos a few months back after having seen it last in the nineties and really enjoying it. It didn’t hold up as well as I had hoped but it is still a well done sci-fi(?) flick with some depth. The one they should give the treatment to is The Devil’s Backbone. Probably his best movie to date.

Has anyone heard any updates on this? Is Criterion releasing Cronos this fall? They really should, as the current release sucks. And it’s a good film, worthy of the Criterion treatment and a BD release. Not sure Criterion would have access to The Devil’s Backbone, as Sony owns the rights and was at one time planning a doing a rerelease themselves.
