Do you think Gaspar Noe ripped off Elem Klimov's "Come and See" poster for his "Enter the void"?

They sure do look really similar…. or is it only me?

IFC’s marketing department is most likely responsible for the poster, not Noe himself. That being said, I don’t feel the posters are overly similar.

If anything it might be homage.

I know for a fact that Noe’ is extremely protective of his works and generally (unless this was an exception) chooses his posters, that being said, really? They look a lot alike to me.
Maybe the term “ripping off” was a little strong, let’s say “inspired”

It sparks an interesting discussion; there might be techniques or inspirations from Come and See in Enter the Void, might be nice to do some comparison.

@Brady: I personally didn’t really like Enter the void (it was a… meh) and adore Come and see, so I haven’t got anything on it.
Though Gaspar has good taste, he certainly knows Come and see

I’m gonna be able to see Come and See in 2 days. It’s got a pretty high rating here, is it as good as everyone says it is?

Before jumping to conclusions, let’s look for other similar posters of a single person’s head as the centerpiece of a poster. That should narrow it down to roughly 9 million posters. Now, we’ll add that it has to be somewhat dark and then very colorful. That gets us down to about 500,000. Now let’s consider why Noe may have made his poster in this manner: His film is very colorful and is shot in the first person. Thus, the poster design makes all sorts of sense independent of any other inspiration, and 67% of middle schoolers would create a near duplicate of his poster if given 4 crayons and 10 minutes to create a poster.

In my very scientific analysis I have been able to conclude with almost absolute certainty that the reason Noe’s poster can be found similar to other posters, this one included, is because it is really bland.

@Brady: it is, it is….

@Leaves: so many? can you make a single other example? :)

I hope Noe’s new film is better than Come and See, but given the crapfest that is Irreversible, I doubt it.

Either way, they’re both great posters.

And Irreversible is not a crapfest. It’s not the second coming, either.

I can’t think of any specific examples, which proves their blandness, but I’ve done comprehensive scientific studies on the subject so I must be right. Such a subject deserves dedicating hundreds of hours to, and you should be ashamed that you haven’t done as much. Ashamed!

So you basically are trying to prove a point that you were not trying to prove a point, after having miserably failed at proving a point? I see :D

AHAHHAHAHA you’re tearing me apart

To be fair, Nanaai, if I were trying to prove a point then that 4 crayon example was probably the best I could have done, anyway, so I don’t think you should disregard my efforts completely. Maybe you should just lower your expectations.

Off topic – Come and See is a good movie that I think has been under-watched due to it’s having the most abrasive DVD cover possibly of all time. Whoever thought a kid w/a gun to his head would sell copies is an absolute idiot, regardless of the subject matter of the film.

Wow who knew the poster for Come and See would be that cool. The image that comes to mind is what SDEL04 is talkin’ about. Dude your on the money, whos’ ever idea it was to put that as the DVD cover, should be fired. I always go to pick it up and then I am like wait, I don’t wanna such a downer. Also the Stalker poster is fucking cool too

Come and See is my current favorite war film. Just shatteringly good.
