I think the prospect of being is a penguin is actually more enticing than whatever the hell my picture is now, certainly more so than a question mark.
ahah I actually like the penguin too…
That penguin is better than most profile pictures. Gosh! I should have used the picture of Pedro instead.
I love the site but I have to say that the whole removing and re-adding thing is ridonkulous! I’d love it if you could drag and drop your favorite films into place like adjusting your top eight on myspace. I’m lazy. I don’t want to have to click so darn much. And I change my mind quite a bit so this is gonna drive me crazy.

Other than that, I kind of want to delete my pic and be a penguin too. Me likey.
There are seventeen types of penguins in the world. Judging from your new profile pictures you are all most likely Emperor penguins, although the image is quite vague so I can’t entirely rule out King, Adelie, Galapagos or Gentoo penguins.
Penguins are defenseless birds and usually live on islands where there are no predators or in remote areas away from predators. We will expect from all of you who are now penguins to act accordingly. Thank you penguins for your cooperation.
Perhaps I have misunderstood something here.
It was my initial impression that the focus at The Auteurs was on motion pictures,
and our experience of, response to, and analysis of same.
How a profile photo of me figures into that scenario remains unclear.
The image at the top of my profile is the poster for Vertigo.
So just think of me as that guy tumbling into the red-orange vortex of paralyzing anxiety.
Send the penguin back to the Hello Kitty distributor.
Eggman has modified his PPP (profile penguin pic). He is most definitely a King penguin.
Sometimes penguins are cinema. Look at March of the Penguins, perfect example (pat myself on the back). Most people on this site are more interested in complaining, or praising Benjamin Button, and telling you what their favourite films are (all in one or two phrases). I see less, and less serious discussion of film, so, I will discuss penguins.
I once knew a girl who loved penguins, her name was Amy. She saw the aforementioned penguin film three times in theatre, and bought it on DVD as soon as it came out. She also saw the dancing, animated penguin movie, but I assume that to be less true to life. We had a class in high school together, and she would talk about penguins all class (I was high throughout the majority of my life at that time so, I remember very little of what she said). You think you’d get bored hearing about the same thing over, and over, but I enjoy penguins, and she was pretty enough, and I was high enough that I never minded. She would talk about penguins, and I would daydream about what I would do to her given the chance (which at that time was about 35 seconds of pure, unadulterated disappointment (it’s not much more now)), and that’s how we got through the class together. I eventually got close, but never there. Whenever I hear about penguins I think of her, and what could of been. (All of that’s true).
Oh, thanks Polaris. She also said the penguins from that movie were the best part. I miss her.
I don’t understand why they bother making sequels to Madagascar. Just make feature length movies with the penguins and drop those other, uninteresting, idiotic characters by the wayside. Everyone goes to see the penguins anyway. Seriously, nobody cares about a hypochondriac giraffe.

I agree with Dax and Crap Monster. I’m very happy about being a penguin.
I’m happy to not be a penguin, not that I have a problem with you all being penguins, nor do I dislike penguins. In fact I LOVE penguins!
I have to agree with Samantha about this whole removing and re-adding thing → not very convenient. [/nitpicking]
Other than that, keep up the great work! :-)
the first stage of the penguin revolution is complete!
thanks for the penguin!
Samantha and Grey Daisies – drag and drop favorite films will be coming soon, removing and re-adding is just a temporary fix.
You mean like Chilly Willy? I loved those cartoons.
A penguin no longer, I.
Nice penguin! Better than that bloody question mark sign.

I love this thread for some reason.
Ladies and Gentlemen… The Auteurs Chorus Line!

lolpenguin, because it is needed!

1. @Edward: Fantastique! Merci!
2. A lolpenguin for the hell of it:
>>Ladies and Gentlemen… The Auteurs Chorus Line!<<
Now if only you could make ’em dance like those wacky rodents on that site that was so popular several years back …
Why can director only be added from a pre-existing list? … and a pretty flawed one at that, since it doesn’t include Paul Leni!

i like what this thread has degenerated into….
I am a bird you know quite well,
All dressed in black and white.
And even though I do have wings
They’re not designed for flight.
I waddle,waddle,waddle,
On my funny little feet.
Across the icy snow I go
To find a fishy treat!
(The Penguin, Roxanne Williams)
I saw a penguin.
He walked right by.
He had a tear in his eye.
I heard him cry and softly sigh,
Oh I wish I could fly.

Yes, that’s right. Update your profile! We have been making changes to profile pages recently and for those of you who don’t have profile photos you will notice that we have turned you into penguins!
We have also changed the way we display favorite films so that the latest films you add to your favorites show up first on your profile page (you can re-order these at any time by removing and re-adding films to your favorites so they show up first).
More changes coming soon…
