Well you should really watch Rear Window, man… there aren’t many perfect films out there, after all.
This is the problem with collecting anything. The faster you grow, in your taste, the more dangerous it is to buy anything – it will likely become obsolete. But it is nice to have them as relics, like pics in a photo album, to demonstrate how one’s taste has matured.
Let’s see… I still haven’t gotten to Pandora’s Box…
no doubt rear window will be good that’s why i haven’t watched it and know it sounds good just from the idea of a man in a wheelchair watching happenings from his window… good concept
sometimes it is nice 2 keep films 4 another day when u know u are going 2 enjoy them :O)
is that pandora’s box from 1929? that could be THE perfect film ha ha
When you buy the 1932 version of The Mummy, there’s about 5 other Mummy sequels that go along with it. I hope to get to them eventually.
Also The Maltese Falcon comes with two earlier versions of the same story – Satan Met a Lady and an earlier (non-Bogart) movie called The Maltese Falcon.
One of these days…
Just wait until you see “Rear Window”…if I could gaze at Miss Torso all day, I’d be looking out my rear window, too. I think the moral to the story is being a shameless voyeur can land you in a lot of trouble. Not that Jimmy Stewart seemed to mind…

…and believe me when I say Georgine Darcy’s naked midriff is even better than her legs. I can hear the sound of cellophane being torn from a D.V.D. somewhere far away…
I have about 190 Criterions, more than half of which I have not seen yet. Aside from these I also have about 200 various dvds that I have not watched. For me to watch certain films depends on my mood. Most of my Criterion titles I have to watch either on vacation days, Saturday morning or Sunday morning alongside with a nice cup of coffee. Sometimes I watch them on weeknights. I have a lot of exploitation stuff I have not watched and this is mainly because I leave that stuff for weekend afternoons, Friday, or Saturday at midnight. I have a family, so some films I can only watch when I am alone or the kids are asleep. I also have films that I buy or can only watch with friends and beer. Some films I only watch if I can watch them with popcorn and cherry coke.
I’m sure you all get the point.
daniel u have ocd ha ha 300 dvd’s not watched? that is like collecting films 4 the love of collecting :O)
Wow @ Daniel D:
Once I bought an Almodovar’s boxset, and I watched all the movies in not much time, except for Kika which I saw about 2 or 3 months later. I just thought I didn’t have the mood to enjoy the movie.
The movie was pretty good after all (:
LOL @ LIKE2SLEEP. I guess you can call it that. Part of the reason I have so many criterions is because I snatch them up anywhere I catch them on sale. My policy is if it’s under 20 bucks, I’ll take it regardless. I am actually on a mission to get the whole collection the cheapest way possible.
@SANTROPEZ From my experience mood has everything to do whether I am going to enjoy a film or not.
I have watched many films a certain times and I hate them. I will watch them again a year later and love them.
I decided to go through my database of movies (DVD Profiler) and list all the ones I haven’t seen yet. Out of 812, there are 115 I haven’t watched since I bought them. I better get busy.

Just had a look, I’ve got 86 DVDs and 8 Blu-rays I’ve never seen out of 769 and 70 respectively. :-0
Then there’s loads of films I’d already seen when I bought them, but not watched them since. I really need to stop buying stuff! It’s an addiction!
“When you buy the 1932 version of The Mummy, there’s about 5 other Mummy sequels that go along with it. I hope to get to them eventually.”
I have this exact dilemma.
Other than that though, I NEVER buy a film that I haven’t seen … or well, I haven’t since, say, high school, which was a good handful of years ago. I’m not much of a collector for the sake of collecting though.
Oh, and at OP: Watch Rear Window NOW! It’s the best thing Hitchcock ever did IMO.
My copy of “The Good German” is gathering dust because it features Cate Bland-shit.
like2sleep
