Bumpity Bump — how’s that script writing going, DiB? Eh?….
Well, I’m sticking to less characters, had to skip off to another script due date but I’m almost done.

@Odil
I visited the location we’ll use for the second part of the film to practice some compositions and have an idea of what we’ll need to coordinate and achieve those shots. If you want some of these pictures for a production note or something, I could send a couple to you as soon as my film goes out of the lab and it gets scanned.
@DiB — fantastic, looking forward to the finished script!
@Santropez — yes yes yes! :D And wow, you’re doing this on FILM. Applause….!
Oh, don’t think I’m shooting my segment on 35mm or anything, it’s just that if there’s someone against digital photocameras, that’s me. So, what I have (or will have) are pictures and not footage. :P
Polaris — My advice is to stick to the Stranger. Assuming it’s a short film, you probably won’t have time to develop another character. I think it might also convolute the story. Depends on the length, though.
Also, I would try to keep dialogue to a minimum and try to tell the story mostly visually if you can. LIke have Hussein see images that convinces him of the humanity in others.
One way of having Hussein verbalize his inner struggle without the use of another character is to have him pray to Allah and express what he’s going through in that prayer (maybe once or twice in the story. twice could show a shift in his attitude, if you feel like that shift needs to be verbalized and can’t be properly conveyed visually).
Still cool, Santropez.
I’ve done another piece of my segment.
“One way of having Hussein verbalize his inner struggle without the use of another character is to have him pray to Allah and express what he’s going through in that prayer”
That scene’s already written! :)

Hey all, just a heads up that I’ve managed to recruit JP Schmidt, a fellow Garage filmmaker, to replace Kate’s old spot in Act 4.
DiB — any confirmation from Taro yet? Otherwise we will have to be looking for a new person there too….
I’ll contact him again, and if no go, I have an idea for another person I can try to recruit.
—DiB
Kyool! :D
How are things going on the Ergodic front? I trust I left things in good hands..
(Double post).
All quiet on the Ergodic front, Anonymouse.
I’m going to test some actors for my short this week. At least with me, everything is as it should be. It is my duty now to make things go even faster.
Santropez, if possible, can you upload some screen tests on our Garage page? Or are you doing some other “test”?
—DiB
Ok, y’all, DiB has submitted his script on the Submissions thread, so we all gotta vote now.
How about by the end of this week, Friday?
You can vote here or send me a PM.
Vote will be to approve Polaris’ script: Yes or No
I’ll be following up Friday morning to make sure everyone votes (I guess I am exempt unless it is a tie, per Anonymouse’s rules).
Let’s get this baby moving — I can write the next production note once Polaris’ script is approved, waiting on stills from Santropez, and something from Roboko, have Ryan’s comments, please everyone else either send me something or post something on our Garage page (via vimeo) so I can get a more rounded out idea of what y’all are doing!
As for my status, I have 3 more clips to go before I put the thing together and make sense out of it as a whole….!
DiB — heard from Taro yet?
After approval of DiB’s script and the miraculous creation of the next production note, we’ll need to focus on the Act 4 pitches. Have Bobby’s, need JP’s, and lastly the mysterious third person’s…
I will hunt for more people.
—DiB
yea Im gonna do my best to have something by the weekend
@JP — maaahvelous!
@DiB — coool…
(I’m the one word response person at this moment)
@PD — I just read your script. I like the way it’s written and it has a nice flow, but I have a few questions/suggestions.
The main thing is I’m confused by the premise, by what exactly you mean when you say some part of you is left behind. Could you explain this further? The explanations given in the script confused me. What exactly is at stake in this? I mean if your soul still transfers over then why does it matter? And what does it mean to have a memory left over? Why would this worry Hussein?
The other thing is it seems like it could be more fleshed out. I’m unclear as to why Hussein changes his mind. I thought he would see or experience something in this limbo state that would convince him life was worth living again, but instead it seemed like he was just afraid of the prospect of leaving himself behind (still not sure what this means) and so quickly changed his mind. In other words, I’m unclear on his character arc, or how it comes about.
Also I’m curious about how you’re going to depict the definitionless faces and the empty streets buildings through effects.
I vote yes for Polaris’ script
Hmm, I could go out and take shots of/film locations, would that suffice for the production note?
Ok, so far:
PolarisDiB script: 1:0
(1 Yes, 0 No)
I need to hear from Dandara, Ryan, Santropez, Tremolo, TheGamgee, Bobby, and JP.
Roboko: That would be fabulous info. for a production note. I can just link to whatever you post on our page.
I vote yes for PDib’s script too, although I’m not sure if I’m allowed to vote. :)
You know I don’t remember, let me check back into the numerous pages of our conversations to see what Anonymouse said about voting, this is the first time we’d have someone who’s not working on the project vote… of course I’d be glad to include it! :D
Looks like we’ve settled for a definite title for my segment: Bovidae
Now the short will open with an insert of the word’s meaning.
*Reading DiB’s script.
PDib — I’m curious to know what you think about my comments. :)
About DiB’s script:
It’s an awesome theme, but I would give it more time until Hussein finds the stranger and knows he’s dead and everything. Anyhow, I’m sure he’ll do an awesome job, and I’m the kind of person that thinks that the ideas of an artists shouldn’t be changed because someone else wants them to be changed.
I say YES

Wow, I’m fascinated by how you work. TOTALLY different from the way I do. You are a fountain of knowledge! :) And you know how to use it.
My method for my segment was, get a minimal script down of some kind as a framework (never do this otherwise), think about it, gather footage, shoot and see what happens, improvise during shooting, put it all together and improvise some more. Remind myself that nothing is set in stone till the damn thing is done, and feel free and light with this concept in my head. If I had to do something very planned, I think I’d need to be pushed and shoved to complete it and I’d be resisting it to the last moment — i.e. it would become a duty and not a pleasure.
At some point I’d like all the directors on this project to talk a bit in depth about their method of working and how they discovered it, what keeps them going because of how they decide to work. Would put this into a PN note.
