The difference is the protagonist is more likable so the film is more effective. I think every problem Fatal Attraction has, The Housemaid doesn’t. It’s quite a wonderful, terrifying movie.
Because the the plots are similar? I doubt it. There were a number of other similar films that seem more likely to have been an influence. Play Misty for Me, for example.
