Manhattan, Annie Hall, Play It Again, Sam, Love and Death and Zelig. I haven’t watched Vicky Christina Barcelona yet but I’m hoping it cracks this top 5

Vicky was great, and I’m still in awe that it wasn’t nominated for original screenplay this year.

Deconstructing Harry
Love and Death
Manhattan
Radio Days
Sleeper

If I could only pick three:
I’d go with “Deconstructing Harry,” “Manhattan,” and “Sleeper.”

I stopped watching Allen in 2001. One day, I’ll be in the mood to watch the last 8 films, and there will be 8 more by then, and so on.

In no particular order: Manhatten, Annie Hall, Sleeper, Love and Death, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Hannah and Her Sisters, Radio Days, Zelig, Bananas, Sweet and Lowdown.

Vicky Christina Barcelona was, I think, one of the best of his most recent films. I’d give Small Time Crooks that distinction too.

Wow, I’m shocked that I’m the only person so far to list Interiors. It truly is a masterpiece.

I watched “Manhattan” for the first time last night and loved it. What makes Allen stand out for me is how he adds his personal life perspectives so casually and subtly to his already hilarious films. Its rare to find a movie that can make you laugh out loud AND reflect on your own life when you watch it. And Vicky Christina was great, I recommend everyone here to watch it if they haven’t already.

@ The Corduroy Suit – Interiors! You’re so right about that one. I can’t believe I forgot about it!

Oooh, I was just thinking the same thing, Mr. (?) Cord Suit. I especially admire the cinematography, which just proves Gordon’s Willis’s amazing range—to think this is the same DP who did the Godfathers…
Manhattan and Annie Hall are superb, a revelation every time I watch.

Annie Hall
Manhattan

Bananas
Shadows and Fog
Sweet and Lowdown
Match Point

I STILL HAVEN"T SEEN VICKY BARCELONA AND I’m DYING SLOWLY!

Though I realize it is not a great film, and worlds away from the brilliance of ‘Annie Hall’ or ‘Husbands and Wives’, I have such affection for ‘Everyone Says I Love You’. Though not his best (not even my favorite), it is a very fun, sweet little film. And who would guess that Edward Norton would be so good in a musical?!

Bill H

1. Annie Hall
2. Crimes and Misdemeanors
3. Stardust Memories
4. Manhattan
5. Hannah and Her Sisters
6. The Purple Rose of Cairo
7. Broadway Danny Rose
8. Bullets Over Broadway
9. Love and Death
10. Sleeper

So hard to choose! My top 7 stand firm, yet the bottom 3 could easily be replaced with Bananas, Take the Money and Run, Shadows and Fog, Zelig, Mighty Aphrodite, Sweet and Lowdown, Deconstructing Harry, and others!

I haven’t seen all of them, but I like

Take the Money and Run

Love and Death
Annie Hall
Stardust Memories
The Front
Radio Days
Sweet and Lowdown
Zelig
Hannah and Her Sisters

@Shelley

Oh yes! I always forget about “Everyone says I love you.” I agree: it isn’t a masterpiece, just a sweet, well made film.

@Corduroy Suit & Daniel

I’m not an “Interiors” or “September” fan. “Interiors” was well done, but I felt like I was watching someone do a good job of copying Bergman. It just made me want to watch a Bergman film instead.

I’m surprised his 1970s films get so much love, when I much prefer his 1980s films (the “MIa Farrow Phase”):

1. CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS
2. STARDUST MEMORIES
3. BROADWAY DANNY ROSE
4. ZELIG
5. SLEEPER
6. MANHATTAN
7. THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO
8. ANNIE HALL
9. RADIO DAYS
10. HANNAH AND HER SISTERS
11. LOVE AND DEATH

I haven’t included anything from the 1990s on, although I loved and was really surprised by HOLLYWOOD ENDING…
