Vertigo
Rear Window
SHADOW OF A DOUBT
That film is no joke.
But it’s a joke to me. The whole world’s a joke to me.
Dear All: Please use the SEARCH function before posting a new thread. There are discussions of Favorite Alfred Hitchcock films dating back some time. This goes for ALL proposed new topics.
I found two such postings on the first page alone after merely searching Hitchcock favorite:
mubi.com/topics/10884
mubi.com/cast_members/1163
BTW, my favorite is VERTIGO, and I think I gave my reasons on another thread. Reasons would be nice too, so that discussion can follow.
I go with everyone else on this and say my favorite to is Vertigo or Psycho
I’m not quite sure which would be my favourite. I’m a big fan of his ‘oeuvre’ as a whole, but some of his movies are pretty crappy (mostly the wartime ones).
SHADOW OF A DOUBT, followed by REBECCA, NOTORIOUS and STRANGERS ON A TRAIN.
These became my favorites as I advanced into middle age. When I was younger, my favorites were NORTH BY NORTHWEST, PSYCHO, REAR WINDOW, VERTIGO and MARNIE.
I would like to let everyone know that on October 14 Turner Classic Movies will be playuing 5 Hitchcock films.

Rope
Wow, I just realized I’ve never seen STAGE FRIGHT.
I must remedy that on Oct. 14.
I’d like to add 2 more Hitchcock films showing on TCM.

The Birds. I saw it when I was very young and it made quite an impression on me, especially the scene at the gas station.
Of the few Hitchcock films I have seen so far(Vertigo, Psycho, The Birds, Lady Vanishes, North by Northwest) I’d have to say that Psycho is my favorite. I bought a Hitchcock 20 film set dvd for $5 but haven’t gotten around to viewing much of it yet.
family plot
North by Northwest, Rear Window, Rope, Shadow of a Doubt, Vertigo, The Trouble With Harry … in that order but also depending on my mood they jump around :p
Notorious
Vertigo
There are so many wonderful Hitchcock films! Of course Vertigo, North by Northwest, Rear Window, and Notorious.
Two of his lesser known films that I like more every time I see them are Rope and The Trouble With Harry.
I also like The Lodger, one of his silent films.
Rear Window and Vertigo!
PSYCHO
Dear All: I have not contributed regularly to many of the discussion threads on MUBI for several months now. Part of this reluctance stems from the whole debate about the name change of this site from theauteurs.com to MUBI. (I was opposed to that name change.)
At that time, there were predictions that the site would change and not be as valuable to the old guard regulars, and that seems to have taken place to a certain extent.
However, I’ll chime in here and suggest that this particular thread could be improved if people would give their reasons for preferrring Vertigo to Psycho, or North by Northwest to Notorious. Merely listing one’s favorites doesn’t leave much room for discussion, right?

My Top Hitchcocks :
Notorious
North by Northwest
Rear Window
The 39 Steps
Sabotage
Sometimes I feel that the greatest thing Hitch ever did was “The Lady Vanishes”. It’s my favorite when I see it but inevitably gets pushed to the side for other more usual suspects.
Vertigo. Not only my Hitchcock’s best, but my favorite movie of all time. It’s his most stylish, personal, hypnotic, elegant, and psychologically captivating masterpiece.
Vertigo
Vertigo , Psycho, North By Northwest and The Birds are all damn good films but my personal favorite has always been Rear Window..such an amazing film form beginning to end, and the introduction shot of Grace Kelly leaning over James Stewart is one of the best shots I have ever seen in film.
Kimberly Gehrt
I have been a huge Hitchcock fan my whole life and have always enjoyed watching the Alfred Hitchcock Hour. My question for all of you movie lovers out there is what is your favorite film from “The Master of Suspense”???
