Well, I have a few favorites. Here they are:
Suspiria, this is an excellent one
Trash Humpers, with all that VHS fuzzy
And of course, Godard’s Breathless
La Libertad de Lisandro Alonso:
Alien is the perfect trailer.

Got to go with the ones that scared the crap out of me when I was a kid:
Dawn of the Dead
Phantasm
Scanners
Also, the original Spider-Man trailer, pulled after 9/11 because it prominantly featured the World Trade Center.
there will be blood is my favorite trailer, makes me want to rewatch the film every time the trailer is on a dvd
a serious man’s trailer where ay sablemen is slamming the guys face against the wall is pretty great

I’m really surprised so many are saying trailers to classic films. While classic films may be better as a whole, there is no way to deny that the trailer form did not get online til the late 90s. And the formated got perfected. I think people are more likely to look up trailers for GOOD films, when i tend to enjoy highlighting the truly great trailers for films that end up being inferior.
Recent Masterpieces – Revolutionary Road. Where the Wild things are. Casshern. Garden State. Brick. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Let the Right One in. Paranoid Park. Doubt. 500 days of Summer. Animal Kingdom. little children.
(it should be noted, i ended up disliking 70 perecent of the actual films)
i’ll second and third ‘doctor strangelove,’ ‘gummo,’ and ‘the brown bunny’ (even though the x-rated brown bunny trailer basically ruins the end of the movie entirely).
also: ‘the shining’ trailer is great. as well as the one for ‘kids.’
i sometimes find it interesting that a trailer can be a thousand times better than the film, such as in the case as ‘little children’ or ‘wild tigers i have known.’
well the thread is asking for favorite movie trailers, not so much bad movies with good trailers.
The Shining (the one with the blood coming out the elevator)
Alien
Blue Velvet
This is probably my favorite movie trailer that was never officially released. I love how the voice over at the beginning describes every aspect of the panic room as if it were a living thing. The narrators feminine yet gravely voice while Fincher’s camera slowly glides over every small aspect of the room, it is calm and yet uneasy.
And now for a bit of shameless self-promotion here is the trailer for my first feature length film which I completed recently:
Salem Kapsaski
From top of my head:
The Picture that grabs the screen ans shakes it:
It’s lose on the auteurs Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I’m surprised that this hasn’t been posted already:
