i think its funny that no one has said thriller. i love this website.
I thought “Thriller” was a given!
NIN’s Closer is one of the sickest, strangest, and sexiest vids ever
Radiohead’s “Just”. Pretty intense.
Any video by TOOL.

The video was directed by Jhonen Vasquez the creator of Invader Zim and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. He is currently working on a movie that he is writing and directing himself. I can’t wait!
Off the top of the head…
Justice – “Stress”
Michael Andrews & Gary Jules – “Mad World”
Bat For Lashes – “What’s A Girl To Do”
The Wooden Sky – “When Lost At Sea”
Jamiroquai – “Virtual Insanity”
Dougal Wilson’s videos for Goldfrapp, “A&E” and “Happiness”.
Otherwise Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze and Chris Cunningham are obvious choices.
I grew up with the first music videos and I remember marveling at MTV. It was perfect for me – short attention span theater. If you didn’t like the show that was on, just wait a minute or two and a new one would start. I don’t watch many music videos these days but the Aha / Take On Me literal video is one of my favorites. I guess it’s even funnier if you watch the original first.

just another kind of love – jan svankmajer
All of Radiohead music videos. I also used to like Queen’s song Innuendo, and Bohemian Rhapsody. R.E.M’s Losing My Religion is a great one too.
Rabbits in your headlights is the number one.
Goo Goo Gjoob.
I remember being stunned by the video to Paul Hardcastle’s “19”
I also saw a superb video—- highly artistic, impressionistic, subliminal, psychedelic—- for Tommy James’s “Crystal Blue Persuasion”.
one that immediately comes to mind is john lennon’s “imagine”
just so simple and beautiful
Pete OHara
Neil Young and Jim Jarmusch on the Dead man film
