Plot: (La nave de los monstruos). Venus needs men! When the last one dies, the planet’s ministers dispatch two beautiful, bathing suit–bedecked Venusians, Gamma (Ana Bertha Lepe) and Beta (Lorena Velázquez), and their robotic sidekick Tor, to scour the galaxy for bachelor bioforms. They collect four gnarly specimens, one an exposed brain, another a drooling bug creature, and on down the singles food chain, until they reset course for home. Near Earth, the rocket, containing its testosterone test cases, conks out and crash lands in—where else?—Chihuahua. Surveying the alien countryside, Gamma of the great gams and Beta, who’s even better, come upon Laureano the singing cowboy, and so begins the war of the worlds. While the vavavavooms from Venus act like it’s ladies night at the Lunar Lounge, the mateless monsters decide to hit on the entire globe. Will love conquer all? Or will it be a bad morning after for planet Earth? —Steve Seid

Plot: (Santo vs. la invasion de los marcianos). Careening towards Earth, a Martian saucer filled with, you guessed it, Martians, in this case shirtless men in tight silver pants with long blond locks, is carrying a foreboding message—stop developing atomic bombs or we’ll turn this into that other movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still. Earth responds with general guffaws, and so the Martians land in a sports arena in Mexico City and start vaporizing fans with their superpowerful “Astral Eye.” Big mistake: Santo, the Man with the Silver Mask, happens to be en la casa, and he doesn’t like his followers being turned into carbon dust. A wrestling match ensues in which the Martians almost succumb, but then they dematerialize via their teleportation belts. The fate of the world hangs in the balance and no one is steadier on his feet than Santo. And like any great brawler, Santo is gonna take the fight to their corner . . . of the universe.—Steve Seid

Plot: (El planeta de las mujeres invasoras). In this alien invasion spectacular, a flying saucer impersonates an amusement park ride. That’s right: a pie-pan spaceship lands next to a carnival and substitutes its saucer for the space ride. When giggling carnival-goers board the ride and discover they are being whisked off to the planet Sibila, they are not even faintly amused. Sibila, a planet ruled by the evil Adastrea (Lorena Velázquez) and her twin sister, Alburnia (Lorena Velázquez), is a bright idea—so bright that you go blind if exposed to its eternal daylight. That explains why the abductees—a family, a boxer, his girlfriend, and a couple of thugs owed money by the pugilist—wear welding masks outdoors. Back on Earth, Dr. Wolf, a good-natured scientist, is prepping his own spacecraft for a rescue mission to Sibila. To make matters worse, the Sibilians want to harvest human lungs as breathing devices for alien asthmatics. This atmospheric actioner will take your breath away.—Steve Seid
