FILM FESTIVALS

T

This is a thread for anyone wishing to post information on (or promote) an upcoming film festival— please include as much information as possible: exact dates, location, and any relevant details and restrictions (format, etc) for filmmaker submissions.

If you’re a festival organiser or otherwise represent the festival, please leave some contact information so that others can get back to you if they have questions. A website url wouldn’t go amiss either

Nice thread, and I give it a bump. I may be able to contribute something of substance, but we’ll see.

7th edition of CROSSING EUROPE – Film Festival Linz
20 – 25 April 2010

Submissions for feature-length films only!
Deadline for submissions is on 11th of January 2010

RULES & REGULATIONS for European Films
(This is for European films only, for local films see regulations for LOCAL ARTISTS)

Crossing Europe – Film Festival Linz
Graben 30, 4020 Linz/Austria
The goal of our annual festival is to give various perspectives on contemporary European cinema.
The programme focuses on innovative European films, which reflect current political and social realities of Europe’s changing societies. We want to trace a cinema that tells of regional peculiarities and different conditions for living on this continent. We aim to open up new cinematic territories, which are under-represented in everyday movie business.
What is considered a “European Film”? – According to our regulations a film is considered European, if either director or producer or the story are based in one of the states of the continent. Above that, the film should be made in the language of one of these regions.

Download application form @ http://www.crossingeurope.at/index.php?bereich=rules.htm&lang=de

The seventh edition of Crossing Europe will be held from 20 – 25 April 2010

The films will be shown in five venues and – wherever possible – each will be screened twice.

PROGRAM SECTIONS
The Festival consists of the following sections:

European Competition, offering a significant selection of current European young cinema. 8 to 10 new European feature films of the years 2009/2010 dealing with contemporary subjects. This meant-to-be fresh and original section is open to a director‘s first or second film only.

European Panorama , a non-competitive panorama assembled according to the festival profile, including films awarded in other festivals, which have aroused exceptional world interest during the last season and featuring special premieres for an Austrian audience.

Night Sight, special section for contemporary European genre films

Specials, special programs of European film territories or special subjects (Working Worlds, Youth Culture and Music programs, etc.)

Tributes, profiles of important but under-represented European filmmakers.

Local Artists, premieres and an overview of the 2008/2009 filmic output of this region (Upper Austria), including student films and local film initiatives.

OK Artist in Residence, focus on the work of an audio-visual artist, which transcends the “limitations” of a movie theatre and is put on display also in a gallery space. In collaboration with OK – Center for Contemporary Art.
What is more: special events, discussions, lectures, nightline parties with live acts.
