Drew: Um… Nope, but that would have been funny.
Neil: Would that really surprise you?
JR
I used to watch those shows before I went to work. They would get me all happy and pumped up.
Diego,
“El Cid” would be a cool nick, change it before I steal it.
Joan Crawford?
El Berj: Nope.
Damn. It made sense, when you look at the true meaning behind Inland Empire.
Janet Leigh?
Funnily enough, I have been on the lookout for Inland Empire for a long time. It was on sale in my local dvd retail outlet for 33(!) euro, so I waited…Only yesterday I bought it in the same place for 6 euro. Watching it tonight. Saw Wild at Heart last night. Might stick with Lynch for the whole week. Josh: I didn’t think tv personalities got stars as well.
>.< mmmmh… nope, can’t think of it. Wild guess… Marilyn Monroe
El Cid is mine as a nickname then, that is a stumper of a question…Bette Davis?
I know a few people on this site know it. It’s been mentioned on a thread here somewhere…
Is it a woman in trouble?
Ahhhhh! This is driving me crazy, who does she puke on?!!!!
Can we get a clue?
Clue 1: The actress’s actual name is not as important as the connotations of her first name (which is legible, briefly).
Once again I ask, is it a woman in trouble?
Ok, Clue 2: (It’s difficult to talk about without giving it away):
To clarify Clue 1: the first name of the actress’ star IS a reference to a woman in trouble—a character from a different movie.
Godzilla?
(Yes Godzilla has a star!)
Godzilla? That’s just weird.
Clue 3: Oh, screw it, I’m just saying it: It’s Dorothy Malone’s star. She’s not that important to the film, I don’t believe, but the name Dorothy, which is clear at one point in the film, is an obvious reference to Wizard of Oz (woman in trouble, indeed).
Whew. I knew it was difficult, but we talked about it on another thread so I figured someone would know. Someone else go, I’ve hogged it too long.
I’m still sticking with Godzilla. Come on! Talk about a woman in trouble! All she wanted was to protect her eggs but the pesky humans and that damn Mothra just wouldn’t leave her in peace. It really is a tragic tale of love and loss.
Godzilla is not a woman. Roland Emmerich’s version doesn’t count.
Okay – Which actor links these three films?:
National Lampoon’s Vacation
Home Alone
1941
Josh, I think we all know Emmerich made the definitive Godzilla film.
Rump, McCauley Caulkin or however the fuck you spell his name?
Randy Quaid? Naw..
John Candy…
Eddie Bracken
McCauley Culkin in 1941…don’t reckon so.
Yep, it was Candy. My go: Who won as Oscar as “Robert Rich”?
The Short-Timers (1979) by Gustav Hasford is actually a novel.
A minor point: we all know it’s a novel, but that’s all in the past now…like MaryJane Rottencrotch
Yes, Neil – John Candy is the right answer.
Neil McCauley's Cooler Brother
That tulip has a star?!
