And, the non-Criterion version is available on Blu-ray.
Wasn’t there an improvement with the “Life of Brian” release? (non-Criterion BD vs. original Criterion DVD)
Robocop and Dead Ringers. perhaps this isn’t a fair comparison because those titles have been out of print for at least a decade, but Robocop has inferior picture and sound to the MGM re-release, and does D.Ringers. the sound was especially bad on the D.R criterion.
Robocop is a yes and no actually Joks.
The Blu-Ray of Robocop is the pure X-Rated cut but it also doesn’t have any special features. Unless I have totally forgotten some.
Some of this may be true…but I still like owning the Criterion just to say I got the criterion. And they look so good on my shelf. Actually I find the Do the Right Thing edition pretty pleasing. Thought I’ve only watched a few Spike Lee introductions and the Cannes Q&A (something I wish was on every DVD that was in Cannes)…Do the Right Thing is just one of those great great films I’m just glad I’m able to watch it and am not really nitpicky about the rest.
And also, it only cost me 14$ off Amazon. If I’d have had to pay 30 then yes I might be expecting more.

It’s got 2 Audio Commentaries while Criterion only has 1, and all the docs are the same.
Any others? It was cheaper, too.
