Films That Took A While For You To Love

I think everyone’s had the experience of seeing a film once, hating it, then revisiting it later and finding a new appreciation for it, sometimes even a newfound love of the film. What films has this happened with for you?

I’ve had a few, but the first that comes to mind is Fargo. The first time I saw Fargo I didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. Regrettably, Fargo was my first introduction to The Coen Brothers, so I avoided their work for a time based off of Fargo. A few years later, I discovered The Big Lebowski, and reassessed them as filmmakers. Low and behold, apart from The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty, I’m a huge Coen Brothers fan now and eagerly await their new films because they always offer something slightly off the beaten path. Burn After Reading had a similar effect on me, as did No Country For Old Men which I must admit I still don’t understand the widespread appeal of.
