“Fanny and Alexander” would have made a great novel with similarities to the French Realists like Stendhal and Flaubert as well as the Skandinavian dramaturgists like Strindberg and Ibsen. I would love to read that one.
I will have to see that one.
Come to think of it Nashville would make a great novel, it has that loose free floating structure and a set of great characters.
Nashville is one film I have been trying to find for a long time. You have just given me a reason to intense my search for this film.

In my opinion the best work of Wong Kar Wai so far is 2046, in a sense that it is a more complex story with varied layers and all sorts of emotions amalgamated within a time frame of 2 hours that you start to believe that the film must have been made from a book. But it’s not.
Have you ever hoped that a film you watched was also a book?
