Hmm. This is tough. I remember seeing quite a few R-rated films as a youngster. The first two that come to mind are Terminator 2 and Predator. Arnold was my idol.
Scarface at 8 years old; have know idea what my folks were thinking. Didn’t scare me but The Elephant Man did major damage at age 7, and that’s PG.
When I was 8 my dad showed me the first half of Terminator.
I think I fell asleep at one point and then when I wanted to finish it later my mom put the kabash.
After that, I don’t remember. Around 13 or so my parents stopped caring about protecting me from R movies so I started seeing a lot of them with my dad, and most of them were terrible.
When I was 7 I snuck my dad’s VHS of Cemetery Man into my room and watched it.
Mine was the Evil Dead Trilogy. I watched it when i was about 5 with my cousins at Thanksgiving. I remember being horrified at the first one, but by the time Army of Darkness came around i fell in love with the over-the-top, campy humor and cheesy animation.
also, what a great thread!
The Silence of the Lambs at age three.
Total Recall when I was 6. My grandmother was and is a huge Arnold fan.
I think it was either Commando in the theaters which I went to with a bunch of my neighbours or it was at home with something like The Terminator.
Alien, probably when I was 8 or 9
Tombstone and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at the age of 4.
pink flamingos
Evil Dead Part I for me as, there was a similar thread from more than 2 years ago, time for some digging..
My brothers took me to Day of the Animals when I was around 8 or so…..was that R rated? All I remember is it starred Christopher George and Lynda Day George and was awful……
“The Howling” was one of the first films I ever watched on VHS when I was around six. That first sex scene left me with a lot of questions.
The Blues Brothers
mine was the warriors!!

u never forget yr first!
The X-rated version of Bambi, the one where Thumper’s name has a whole different meaning…
I saw Child’s Play at about 3 or 4….. Loved it at the time.
First R-Rated movie I saw in theaters was much later on: Woody’s Allen’s Anything Else
The first one I can recall watching was Alien when I was about 7 years old. Scared me pretty bad. Still love the movie though.
I remember seeing The Shining at a very young age, as well as The Warriors
Trading Places in the movie theater. I guess I was eight or so.
Dog Day Afternoon and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (not sure which was first)
My father rented this shitty betamax copy of Evil Dead… He watched and promptly declared it off limits for me and my siblings…which was a pretty bad idea, since that was like a cue for me doing exactly the opposite thing. I quickly found its hiding place and watched it peeking from behind my little ten-year-old fingers. To be honest, I was terrified it kind of scarred me for life.
Why do you assume we saw our first R-rated film as a kid?
@Jon: He’s not assuming. He’s asking.
Earliest one I can recall was Tobe Hooper’s Crocodile at age 6. Watched it after Recess: School’s Out!
Didn’t know it was rated R here in the U.S.
Animal House, while sitting uncomfortably between my parents, who would soon be divorced. I was 10.
I was taken to see The Exorcist when I was 9 and it was re-released in ‘75. I then snuck into Nashville and _*One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest*_ in the spring of ’76.
Terminator 1. My brother and I watched it 3 times that night when the parents were out!

Child’s Play at 8 years old. Scared the piss outta me.
