Fix the search engine!

Jim W

The search engine on this site is terrible! It works most of the time when I am searching for a film, but often I have to type in the year of the film as well in order to find the page, or I can’t find it all and have to search for the director’s page and follow a link.

Try searching for Crumb or Let the Right One In. It doesn’t work.

I’ve had similar problems too. Usually if a film doesn’t show up on the first couple pages of results, I’ll just type the director’s name…except sometimes there isn’t a good result for the director, either.

This has been discussed elsewhere, but one thing that would help would be being able to limit search results to only films, only directors, etc.

I completely agree. Most of the time when I search for a director, actor, “cast member,” it gives me a bunch of related pages, but never the main page for that person. The same goes for movies.

Right on, guys.

I was about to put up a topic when I noticed this one. Really, I was looking for Gummo to rate it, but I had to go through Trash Humpers to Harmony Korine’s page to get to the Gummo page. That’s atta Bullshit.

mubi search engine sucks, that’s a fact.
I recommended once theauteurs.com to a friend
but the poor search engine results hold him back
and made me look like a fool for digging the site.

thanx mubi!

Searching for Agnes Varda’s Vagabond is like trying to find an arcane Rosicrucian secret. The old Auteurs search engine worked like a dream. Please fix this!

Google has not indexed all film and director pages yet. Give it a few weeks, and it will be smoother. We also have something in the works which will make it much easier to find a film and/or director you want. Thanks.

Not only the search engine. I’m having trouble looking at “Recently added” films. Every once in a while, a new title or two will show up for a few minutes, but for the past two-ish days, the same Satyajit Ray films have been the “most recent” recently added films.

Yeah, I noticed that too… ↑

Well, at least it means that Ray gets some more attention. ;)

It’s the name change. Efe’s right, give it a couple weeks. Anyone who’s managed a web site before should be familiar with what happens when you change all the pages around.

The search function works quite well now and also gives options for filtering.

Yes, it’s not perfect yet, but getting there. Thanks Efe, Gabe & Co.

Yes, HUGE improvement over what was.

Yes it’s much better now.

So, they fixed that, but now the Films datebase pages are all screwy, fluctuating from 606 pages to 593 and repeating film after film, etc.333333333
