This astonishing documentary film made by Jose Padilha just shock me out. It is about the daily life of people who live in the cities outskirts and in isolated areas where there is shortage of food and besides people are not educated so therefore they have a lot of children. It is not a new theme but the sensitivity which is made with deserves a mention in the pizes.

Was it better than Tropa de elite? Cause that film did much to undercut the praise Padilha received for Bus 174.

Tropa de Elite was really good with regard its action scenes, its rythm, and its accurate moral balance. This movie is totally diferent since it is a documentary but it has a common point that is the pressure under the individulas, how the situation can be devastating for the human being whatever the circumtanses and how people has the ability to adapt themselves and to be strong enough to do the almost imposible to survive….but sometimes this is too hard.

As a brazillian…. all I can say is that Bus 174 is still a masterpiece. Garapa is good… but… I have seen too many movies with the same theme. If you don’t live here, this dock will be really shocking…. but… there are too many movies about the same stuff being produced here… all the time. Tropa de Elite is a good movie. Decidedly, not one of my favorites, but I think it’s ok
