The MPAA is such a joke anyway. It’s pretty irreverent.
Norman Mailer replaced the word fuck in his world war 2 novel The Naked and the Dead (1948) to fugg
In Gore Vidal’s novel, MYRON, he replaced all cursewords with the surnames of the then-sitting Supreme Court justices.
Frack this thread.
There is a long history of this sort of nonsense. I remember the practise of replacing ‘bloody’ with ‘ruddy’ was common in British films until the 1960s, although my favourite is the well known example from Repo Man, dubbing Motherfucker into Melonfarmer!
That was pretty much the idea behind Battlestar Galactica’s use of Frak – which was pretty damn perfect.
I remember watching the Breakfast Club quite frequently on TBS when I was a teenager and it had an amazing edited version.
“Do you slip her the hot beef injection?”
Edited Line: “Did you slip her the hot wild affection?”
Or: “Flip me? No, dad, flip you!” speech.
Or: “Dim you! Dim you!”

I forgot on Firefly they use Chinese to swear, but when translated it really means “This elephant is dirty” or something like that.
You think swearing in pig latin sounds more natural than saying ‘mother’? This is an interesting theory…
Dennis Hopper was a guest host on SNL when Blue Velvet came out and he spoofed his Frank Booth character and just about every second word was freak. It was fantastic.
when i caught the big lebowski on tv a while back, the scene where walter beats the shit out of the corvette was changed from “You see what happens Larry? You see what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!!” to “You see what happens Larry? You see what happens when you meet a stranger in the Alps!!”
Not joking.
Someone had a lot of fun trying to come up with something to fit in there.
Folk this.
You’re a Kant.
Bood, yeah, there’s a lot of hilarious editing on TV. One time there was this guy talking in a movie on TV, and in the place of him saying “Fuck this” a voice said “screw this”. The funny part was, it was a girls voice!!!
Lona, well, that’s true, it doesn’t, but it would seem better because of it’s blatantly admitting it’s not trying to be real, just trying to swear as much as allowed. This isn’t exactly a serious thread, btw.
Rock and Bull
I have an idea. I was noticing the other day how unnatural people can sound on TV and in PG-13 movies. Sometimes I just have to think, um, they would have definitely said motherfucker there, not just mother…
So what if they said “uck” or even “uckfay”? Or on TV they could say “Holy Itshay!”
This is a good idea. They should do this.
