I thought the “Navajo English” gimmick was better.

“All you need for a movie is a gun and a girl in 3-D.”
Just another sick joke from him. Has been quite the joker since Passion.

But Tout Va Bien was 3D! The assembly line as I recall…. Wait a minute. I saw that in 1975…. Nevermind.
cool…
A MacDonald’s Happy Meal deal would also help his next film….
Is it gonna be a CGI dog? Why hasn’t he screwed around with CGI?
Godard has mastered trolling.
How about a 3D llama at a gas station?
Can you even make a 3D film on a Godard budget? Is there some cheap post-production process to do it?
Guardian reported during the time of his last film that Godard gave the reporter his dog script, the reporter claimed it was mainstream and really touching
Is anyone else seeing the headline written upside down and backwards
Maybe I need 3D glasses to see it right.

Godard is the most beautiful fraud in the world.
LOL
“Godard is the most beautiful fraud in the world.” That’s interestingly put, Le Tigre, and I think I often agree with you. It seems almost like he’ll say anything, often contradictory things about film, but then again that’s the nature of the medium. And regardless he’s indefensible for all the lessons taught.
Ben is right. Godard is the greatest troll in the histoire(s) du cinema, far better at artistic trolling than Armond White or Lars von Trier.
I just got an idea for an essay.
Adieu au langage
I could make a 3D film with my Nintendo 3DS, it would just have really poor production value.
3D isn’t that hard to film. Just take two cameras mounted next to each other, the expensive part is playing them.
@judicial joe: I don’t think Armond White is a troll; he’s just a guy you want to punch in the face and have a beer with afterwards.
Why is he a fraud, Le Tigre?
Does nobody wonder why intelligent critics and filmmakers respect him?

Well I thought about launching off that tangent but hesitated, now that it’s out there
Godard is old school, situationist troll, all of that pre-Internet activity that in retrospect we could look back on and call culture jamming, or trolling in real life.
Von Trier is absolutely 100% Internet era troll. His ‘posts’ exist only to rile people up, and he succeeds even if you try to ignore him.
So it’s not really a question of degrees, but of type. Trolling in the art world itself is sort of a modernist/post-modernist thing anyway. Once those darned Dadaists and Surrealists got out, we haven’t looked back:

@Dust In Love
I was being ironic in paraphrasing a famous quote of his about cinema being “the most beautiful fraud in the world.”PolarisDiB, you said that perfectly. Also, I have never found Godard and his “trolling” funny in the slightest, but Von Trier is consistently hilarious.
@Matthew(sic)
What exactly is your point? Did you know that Ingmar Bergman labelled Godard as a “fucking bore”? Please, Godard’s derrière has already had its fair share of smooching.
Le Tigre
Did you know that Ingmar Bergman labelled Godard as a “fucking bore”?
I’ve seen 29 Godard films. They are not boring in my opinion – even when some may not be that good. I see no reason to give Bergman more credence than the general consensus about Godard in the history of cinema.
Regarding the ‘troll’ opinion of Godard I would say he is much less of a troll than someone who hops onto a blog and makes a critical opinion of a him. Consider the fact that if he was not Godard there would be no reason for the opinion. Being a contrarian is no way to view film history. The film world is big enough for both Godard and Bergman.
Oh my gods, shit just came out of my asshole into a wine glass so I can sniff it all up. Fuck me, not Godard. WHY?? Cinema’s going to die now because Godard is trying something new, and he will also most likely be dead himself before the next decade. WHY???
@Matt L: Just pointing out that Godard has “intelligent” critics, that’s all. I never claimed or implied that Bergman’s opinion is of higher importance than his peers.

I guess any filmmaker is game now for shooting on this format…
