As much as I think the Oscars are useless, the Golden Globes make them look like the Nobel Prizes. I watch (and complain about) the Oscars every year, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched the GGs.
@Den
I enjoyed Tree Of Life quite a bit, but I agree it’s not easily enjoyable enough to get mainstream award nods.
The problem with this list isn’t so much that it doesn’t include art films, so much as it includes almost exclusively the sort of award-bait films that aren’t as entertaining as entertainment films, aren’t as artistic as art films, aren’t as much of a technical achievement as CGI films, and have no value whatsoever other than to pander to American critical standards.
People who like the sort of film Tree Of Life is enjoy Tree Of Life. People who enjoy the sort of film Transformers is enjoy Transformers. Nobody enjoys these films, they just look like the sort of movie you’re supposed to appreciate.
ehhh..don’t really care what wins this year for film.
Yay for American Horror Story getting a nom!
“They gave me two nominations? I don’t think I deserve this…”

“…ha, who am I kidding? Of course I do.”
No…Tree of Life..that really strange..
Oh, how do you compare art anyway? Let’s have all of us play Batman and see who does it best? Man, I just realized I’m the first actor to play Batman who got two Golden Globe nominations? I am so humble! Anyway, did I mention Hollywood types like myself are responsible for all social progress in the last century? Oh, but don’t look at me, I played Batman.
This is Clooney’s year and I’m extremely delighted about Gosling too!!….But too bad the HFPA overlooked ‘The Tree of Life’…
Happy to see Fassbender for Shame, I can’t decide between him and Gosling in Drive, but hey, Gosling in Drive is NOT nominated, so come on…
Every serious actor should take at least one really pulpy role, just so they can always make a reference to it whenever they want to feign humility. That has to be the only reason he took the Batman and Robin script.

I don’t always feel this way but…
