armegeddon. there is nothing more epic than this film
Army of Darkness!
Also, another Michael Bay film, The Rock. Pure mindless adrenaline-fueled entertainment.
Yes on Army of Darkness, and every other Evil Dead movie because they’re awesome, innovative, and totally B-movie, but also:
Chopping Mall (see it! Killer robots offing high school kids trapped in the mall!)
Tommy
Friday the 13th
Boa vs. Python (thank you, SciFi)
original King Kong (I know it’s a milestone in movies and all that, but the acting is terrible! Sample line: “Why, I think I love you!”)
Plan 9 from Outer Space (you can’t leave this off the list)
Glen or Glenda
Manos: the Hands of Fate (translation: Hands: the Hands of Fate)
Sweeney Todd was a typical good bad film.
Very bad taste with great British actors.
Plan 9 from Outer Space has got to be the funniest film I have ever seen
And I like The Cable Guy too for some good mindless entertainment
Army of Darkness is a great film
Manos: The Hands of Fate is up there with Plan 9 as well. hahaha
For some reason, I get a kick out of Deep Rising. I haven’t seen it in a long time but its like a monster movie done hilariously right…that is a film that knows what it is….mindless monster fun.
El Santo & Blue Demon! (All of them)
Haha Manos! Yes, definitely an awesome bad film – especially when given the hilarious commentary treatment by Mystery Science Theatre 3000!
I’m going to admit to liking Vincent Gallo’s ‘The Brown Bunny’ despite the fact that everyone I know hates it. There, I said it..heh.
Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter is a timeless classic, especially the scene where the J-man himself personally disposes of three lesbian vampires with his fists.
“The power of Christ compels you!”
Shadowboxer.
Critters! Which Critters movie was the one with the guy in the Easter Bunny suit?
Troll 2 is a masterpiece.
Seeing Troll 2 may be the most astounding cinematic experience I’ve ever had.
The Worst Witch starring Tim Curry and Fairuza Balk.
Frankenfish
*hangs head in shame
Charlie’s Angels (2000) directed by McG
Legally Blonde (2001) by Robert Luketic
Maybe these weren’t on the worst film list but they aren’t art films, either, and I think I like them for reasons other than the ones I would usually attribute to the fine art of film making.
Read through what has been said so far – yes, “The Brown Bunny”, “Armagedon” and… “The Bodyguard” !!!
One of my fav.comedies is Joe Dante’s “The Burbs” which is funny because in New Zealand everyone I know thinks its a masterpiece and in America everyone I know thinks its a joke. I guess it must have been how we imagined suburban America to be from down under, but regardless I still think its Tom Hanks finest moment:)
Elric- I still think The Burbs is one of Tom Hanks’ best films too. LOL-I think it may have been Bruce Dern’s finest moment as well. :D Great choice.
“Funny Games” by Michael Haneke
“The Exorcist Director’s Cut” by William Friedkin
“Maya” (an Indian film I saw at London Film Festival several years ago. A true story of a village where girls are gang raped by adult men as a traditional ceremony when they have first period.)
“Osama” by Siddiq Barmak (A story of an Iranian girl (12?), who pretended to be a boy to get a job to support her family. Her secret was found in the end and the headmaster takes her to keep as his wife.)
They are all too depressing to watch again, but have strong messages.
Funny Games? really?
Come on… It’s a good good film.
Not excellent excellent, but good good.
Certainly not a good bad film.
“Vampyros Lesbos” (Jesus Franco, 1971), “German psycho-sexadelic horror freakout”. It’s almost as bad as “Plan 9”. The score is amazing, however. It sounds like somebody forced Kurt Weill to sing a Muddy Waters track by giving him a microphone tracheotomy and simultaneously drowned him in a vat of feedback. And there’s Soledad Miranda, who I could watch doing absolutely nothing for the rest of time.
Ashamedly, I must admit liking some pointless comedies like “Zoolander” or “Mean Girls” which are almost, sort-of, like Cult movies that has their own following. And each time I watch them, I get entertained, even though they don’t offer much as Cinematic Achievements…And, also I must admit, I enjoyed, formulaic good bad(blockbuster) movies like “Titanic” and “Armageddon”, irregardless of their bad acting and horrible dialogue…
The Mist.
The Fury
To me, there’s no such thing as a “good bad film”. I either like a movie or I don’t. For example, I find Mattei’s Cruel Jaws to be a great movie because I believe the hammy acting, stolen script ideas (not to mention footage), and strange editing add to its charm.
halim i ‘m so glad you admit that u like zoolander ’cause i also hate to love , it’s this type of film that as u said has nothing to say but it’s soooo funny and smart in a peculiar way

Marionn^ I completely agree with you that in movies like “Zoolander” or “Mean Girls,” there is definitly something smart about the sense of humor. Cause they know the precise audience that they are aiming these movies for and thus, these movies have many insider jokes that will please this specific ‘crowd’, as oppose to making a comedy film that will try to make everyone laugh. Even though, these movies might not be packed with a lot of thought-provoking ideas, they are still very good at illustrating a “way of life” or “style” with a hint of humor, which their target crowd can identify with and laugh at at simultaneously…
Talking about good bad movies; my most recent favorite could be possibly “Ironman.” As a friend of mine noted: for a change a studio actually hired real writers for a Superhero movie… Regardless of this, it was definitly a very entertaining 2 hours that I have spend in a movie theater. I especially liked the “Ironman” suit and the unbelievable house that Robert Downey Jr. lived in the movie…I want one of each for sure…
Juan C.P.
Don’t ask why, but lately I’ve been having an unexpected fascination towards bad films.
Then I realized that a couple of them aren’t as bad as people said they were.
So… my proposition to you, fellow cinephiles, is:
Don’t feel guilty about it. Nobody will judge you.
Scream out loud the film that you like, that has been in the worst films list.
“CABLE GUY” IS AWSOME!!!!
