I definitely second Atanarjuat, aka The Fast Runner (2001, Zacharias Kunuk)

And I also like Dances with Wolves since it isn’t the white man that saves the natives, but the natives that save him.

“Two votes for Ten Canoes, huh? I heard good things about that one.”

3 votes i think.

Does anyone like Herzog’s Where The Green Ants Dream? That is a strange little film. Not one of his best, but it has its moments. He at least tried to present the conflict between Indigenous preservation and the ‘progress’ driven imperative of modern civilization.

Heart Of Light was a decent try in making a film from a Inuit-perspective. A lot of years since i watched it, and the best thing with it was the cinematography, but worth tracking down. No idea if the director had any ancestral ties to Greenland though.
