I’m pleased to say it is growing with more and more great films!
I’m about to watch Before Sunset on it.
I don’t trust Netflix instant viewing since a lot of the ones I watch aren’t even VHS quality. I tried to watch Angelopoulos’ Eternity and a Day and the quality was terrible, same with the Bed You Sleep In, Night of the Iguana, and the anime film Paprika. The last one I watched that had good picture quality was either an Ozon or Verhoeven film.
I don’t have an account anymore, but it got to the point where I just had them deliver to my house instead of watching them instantly. I don’t know, maybe it’s improved in the past three weeks since I deleted my account.
Anyway:
A bunch of New Yorker titles were available, which may have changed since the distributor went defunct.
Ozon has some on there as well.
Herzog has a load of films available, I don’t know if it’s changed, but there was at least ten of his films available (including Aguirre, Fitzcarraldo, Little Dieter Needs to Fly, Lessons of Darkness, and Even Dwarves Started Small)
Pierrot Le Fou
Eyes Wide Shut

Pierrot Le Fou
2001: A Space Odyssey
Grand Illusion

Those are some of the best films availible to watch on instant— they have a fairly good selection. As far as quality, its OK. You might be able to find the same movies on YouTube that feature the new “High Quality” option.
i’ve been keeping up with newer releases being put on instant. figured i’d bump this up so it could get some more heads up with movies being put on instant.
new movies i’ve seen up that i think are all definitely worth a watch are JCVD, Timecrimes, Let The Right One In and Wendy and Lucy
They also recently put up a good portion of Eisenstein’s work. Hooray for netflix
Yeah, they added Battleship Potemkin, The General, Nosferatu, and The Man With The Movie Camera from what I noticed recently.
also birth of a nation and dead ringers.
12 monkeys is on instant.
Assault on Precinct 13
orson welles’:
the trial
Alfred Hitchcock:
The Lady Vanishes
The 39 Steps
You can also add My Man Godfrey and Rosselini’s Open City to the list. I think there’s more good movies on instant than there ever has been.
Dreams by Kurosawa. I still can’t believe its on Netflix instant watch.
Mauvaise Graine (1934)
No great shakes, but it was Billy Wilder’s first, so it deserves a look.
A lot of those titles aren’t available anymore, unfortunately.
Some good flicks that ARE available (as of now).
Goodbye Solo (as a matter of fact, I think all of Bahrani’s films are available to stream).
Perfect Blue (a really great Anime)
Tulpan
Lust, Caution (Ang Lee)
The Apartment
Bukowski – Born into This
Undertow (David Gordon Green)
The Boxer
Careful
The Son.
It’s a really great service. Every once in awhile they will have Criterion titles available to stream.
Also, some great series available.

I’m assuming the picture quality varies from film to film, because I watched Paris, Texas and the quality was perfect, but I’ve watched others, such as Husbands and Wives and it was atrocious
