Sorry I missed out on the painting one Kenji, such an interesting topic. I was a little torn by it though since the difference between secondhand representations of paintings and seeing them in person threw me somewhat and I wasn’t able to resolve the differences between the two quickly enough to offer any favorites once I saw the topic, or the offtopic as it were. I guess I could have thought of it as the 30 paintings one would most like to see in person or have limited it to only those I have seen like Grey reasonably did, but in the end it might not have mattered as the decisions, and the recall involved in making them, were going to be tough either way. Still, good stuff and I look forward to the book list.
Yeah, books will be a little easier for me, but, again, I’m afraid of showing to Mubi how dumb I really am!
Have no fear, 2 of my top 3 are books for children! Another was written by a child. And i’ve spent too much time on films, not enough on great books; hoping to use the poll as a guide for must-reads.
In a way books might be considered a more genuine experience than seeing paintings second hand- ah, except in translation!
A number of mine will be Shakespeare and I see you included one of his as well, Kenji. Just want to clarify that plays are eligible in this category.
