“Over eighty percent of silent films are lost. I’ve always considered a lost film as a narrative with no known final resting place — doomed to wander the landscape of film history, sad, miserable and unable to project itself to the people who might love it.” — Guy Maddin

Streaming here February 22-March12: http://spiritismes.centrepompidou.fr/

The film they are doing today is Marshall Neilan’s Bits of Life, with Jacques Bonnaffé, Miguel Cueva, Udo Kier, Sherpa Macilu, Charlotte Rampling, and André Wilms.

6 hrs difference from eastern standard time. it’s 1:40 am in paris right now. so does that mean we’ll have to wait til tmrw :(

ok i’m thinking by 12 a.m. they actually mean noon? since gmt should only be one hour difference. that would be 3 am west coast, 6 am in the east? can anyone confirm this?

it sounds cool

Yes, that is correct Ruby.

Charlotte Rampling, Udo Kier, Geraldine Chaplin et al – what a cast.

I just checked it out but there is NO SOUND. Udo Kier (i guess it is) was having his wig adjusted.

just realized since it’s Maddin maybe it’s all supposed to be silent.

I was watching it in class yesterday with my computer muted, so I didn’t realize there wasn’t sound. Although it does make the viewing surreally hilarious

excellent write up in the newest sight and sound mag. This project has made me really excited for Maddin. I’m already a fan of most of what I’ve seen, with the exception of one film, but I think this is the most interesting thing he has done.
