That does look pretty cool. I’ll have to keep my eye out for it.
This going to be released this Thursday around Australia. I will be watching it, eventually.
I know a couple of people who saw it at the Brisbane International Film Festival, and they weren’t too impressed with the film.
wonderful film & quite disturbing. The landscape is an ominous, ever present menacing character….think Herzog. Young director, first feature.
It has a beautiful poetry and melancholy mood, enhanced by the fear of inevitable. A really spectacular film.
Yeah, saw it at syd film fest than projected it at chauvel so got a chance to watch it over and over again. good photography, although HD looks pretty doge, may have just been the transfer, also wiped all the colours out of it which makes a real cool look to it, but i think adds too much pressure to the resolution of HD, good HD but, F35’s.
really good sound, i think they put a lot into that aspect in post, the trailer for it is heaps mad too. director and cast talked about it after film fest screening. the actor is an aussie and went to ireland for some time in order to learn and practise his dialect stuff, you know, the stuff in subtitles.
thought its really well written too, they made a short before it called hells gates i think which gave them an idea how to do the full production.
all in all, a really really good production, considering its what maybe 1.5 million. just like balibo, on a tiny budget compared to international product and making a really decent thing out of it.
worth viewing if you like hard-hitting true stories about people in pretty atrocious circumstances. but really cool sound effects of people getting battered and sauced up, and then bubbling away it a tiny billy and carried round in sacks and getting their throats cut so they can be let bled. not in that order but. its cool.
