“CANADA
Has anyone from Canada ordered from this sale?
B&N charges a nominal amount for sales tax. Was the amount updated to include HST? Any other charges?
The new 15% coupon didn’t work for me. Treated the same as all other coupons for the Criterion sale."
The shipping is more for Canada, but not outrageous. Buying Criterions in Canada is a ripoff in any store (I believe they cost at least $10-$30 dollars more than US stores), so the 50% off sale more than makes up for the few dollars in shipping to Canada. Some coupons work for me, some don’t, just try another one.
The Red Shoes Bluray – just got canceled from my online order due to out of stock! If you are intent on buying it, you better go to an actual store instead. Just a little tip.
I just picked up a large slate of stuff today but I think I will go back and at least get 2 more titles with those 5 dollar coupons. Hell yeah!
man, i wish i’d seen that coupon before i stopped off at BN. i didn’t know about that one! ah well,
i picked up Crumb, The Magician, and The Night of the Hunter.
I’m done. I couldn’t really afford these…
Oops…I accidentally duplicated one of the coupons above…here is the other one:

Remember to right click and view image file and then print so the Barnes and Noble URL will show on your print out.
Broke down and bought
- War Trilogy .. Rossellini
- Magician .. Bergman
The hunger pains were still so bad I then bought eight more DVDs, none of which is close in quality to the two purchases from B&N. An O/C mind can be a terrifying thing.
My final tally:

Eclipse Series 21: Oshima’s Outlaw Sixties
Les Amants
Howards End
The Virgin Spring
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Brand Upon the Brain
Vivre sa Vie
does anyone know exactly what time it ends? is it midnight sundaynight – right at monday.. or end of monday midnight? no one at b&n seems to know.
did three 225$ orders but would like to grab a few things tomorrow unless it ends at midnight or something.
@CEDIS – Last time this happened, it ended 9:00 PST (Midnight- Monday EST). So if that is the case, you have about two hours from now I suppose…

It was a pretty great sale… I really hope there’s another one (and there better be if the first half of 2011 is anything like 2010).

My wallet hates me so much right now.
I only picked up the Eric Rohmer box set this time around, but I also purchased a BD of Pierrot Le Fou new from the authorized seller listed on the B&N website, so that was not technically part of the sale.
I decided to add the Louis Malle Eclipse set just awhile ago (thanks to those who recommended it to me!), so all I need for my Eclipse Series collection is the Flamenco set (which is OOP but was never my priority – although everyone who has it seem to say it is a must-buy). I will have to say, so far….I have not been disappointed by an Eclipse series release. Oh, and one thing, many of you have asked me if I had “The Golden Age of Television”, I bought it at the beginning of the sale and started watching it and man, I love it.

Did anyone ever manage to snatch up oop criterions still miraculously lying on the shelf unsold in a B&N during the sale?
Oh, I guess so Viewer Ben, since you bought Alphaville.
And my tally:
—Six Moral Tales
—Bigger Than Life
—F for Fake
—The Night of the Hunter
—Wings of Desire
—The Exterminating Angel
—L’Eclisse
I would have been okay if I’d stopped there, but the collector bug forced me to find and purchase the three OOP titles I’ve really wanted:
—That Obscure Object of Desire
—Contempt
—Straw Dogs
Z. Bart,
Did you manage to find those out of print titles 50% through B&N, or did you find them through other avenues while the discount was in effect.
Because I have Contempt already but would like to snatch up Obscure Object at a reasonable price if I can.
Rossi, I went through Amazon. There are currently a number of “Like New” copies available for less than $20 via that site. Seems pretty fair for an OOP title like that one.
Tommy
Today was my last trip to the store. I think I got some pretty good ones and fairly cheap too using a 15% off coupon and membership discount.
Roberto Rossolini’s War Trilogy
3 Women
That Hamilton Woman
