Berjuan

Hehe, thats a bit ironic because I’m getting the Faith Trilogy. I had to order it so now I’m just waiting for B & N to call me. I also put Andre Rublev on hold today.

Law

The Faith Trilogy is excellent. Excellent choice, Berjuan.

Adventures of Antoine Doinel, here I come.

How long is this sale going to last? Thank goodness my family wants me to offer them suggestions for birthdays and Christmas. All I have to do is hand em’ a list, tell em where to go, and I should be getting me some DVD’s in the next few months.

WARNING!

If you’re going to take advantage of this sale, don’t go to a B&N store. I walked down this morning, expecting to find almost all of The Criterion Collection on sale, as the website advertises.

Wrong.

At my store’s pretty large selection of Criterions, I counted a grand total of three – yes, THREE – Criterions that were 50% off. So the obvious solution is to shop online. And if you’re a poor teenager like me who doesn’t have a credit card, just buy a B&N gift card at the store and redeem it online.

Now there is nothing to stop me from getting Ikiru and The Adventures of Antoine Doinel….

Grafton, I’m glad I could help. I know I’m excited about it myself.

Sean Keeley, did you ask the music seller? They are all on sale.

Sean Keeley

I did ask the music seller and he said that only the ones marked with the sticker were on sale. Maybe he was mistaken, I don’t know, but in any case I knew I could get them online so I’m doing that instead.

loofrin

i’m pretty sure he was; sorry that happened. but i’m glad you’re still taking advantage! oh and its not a bad thing that you don’t have a credit card, trust me. :D

it was true!

best. sale. ever.

and with my coupons and membership, even better. a $40 film for $15.3 plus tax. (apply 10% from membership and 15% off from coupon)
cassavetes box set for $49.73 plus tax.

i am going so broke this month.

for the record, they are all on sale in store, i checked!

Loofrin, do you have any idea why some titles like the Dreyet Box Set are not on sale?

Mike Spence

My store informed me that the sale starts Wednesday so maybe some of these stores are just starting early with a few title’s and then join the fray. The clerk at my store said it would be all Criterions.

The Louis Malle eclipse docs weren’t onsale online..last night..

loofrin

Law, no I don’t. If its Criterion its on sale. Ask the musicseller.

Law

Haha, there are no Barnes and Noble stores here. I would love to email a musicseller though.

Online it is only about half of them. 367 to be exact. I was hoping for Last Year at Marianbad but that is not a 50% off title.

Lona

367 is way more than half of them…
Law… that’s very difficult since you don’t actually have a BN that you can walk into because then you don’t have someone with which you can argue your way into the discount.

Nathan M.

Repeat question – Does anyone know how long this sale will last?

Lona

until August 3rd.

Withnail

I think I’ll skip this one. One DVD will still cost me 22 bucks, even after the %10 off. I’ll wait for a Deep Discount sale instead.

Nathan M.

Thanks, Lona. I have some time then. Hopefully all the Auteurs people don’t clean out the Criterions before I get there.

I just returned and got Last Year At Marienbad and The Last Metro for $40! Incredible!

Thanks to those who brought this to our attention and confirmed it to be true!

Just bought Six Moral Tales for fifty bucks, rather than it’s usual hundred. Still pricey, no doubt, but that was a huge chunk of change saved on something I’ve wanted for a long time.

I would have bought Marienbad if I wasn’t saving my money (mostly), but my Barnes seems a little shy of Criterion Blurays, as in the newest one it has is The Wages of Fear (it still has the older ones, though). My problem is that I want In The Realm of the Senses, Marienbad, The Seventh Seal, For All Mankind, none of which are to be found on Bluray at my Barnes.

Day 1 of criterion collection sale: Lona buys Alphaville and Science is Fiction. $34 removed from her bank account.

Law —
I’m not sure why the Dreyer Collection says it isn’t 50% off online. I actually rung it up on the register and it was 50% off in the store, so I don’t really know what to tell you… my only suggestion would be to call any Barnes & Noble and just order it with a credit card over the phone and have it shipped to you instead of doing it through bn.com.
