Sometime in July, I’m sure.
Assuming Barnes & Noble stays in business that long.
^ Are they supposedly going bust too?
I hope not.
Not that I read or anything.
Bn is doing just fine. No worries.
Amazon has around 30 or so Criterion blu-rays on sale right now for 50% off, get on that people! Click on the item, then click on “new” – they kind of hid the price but it’s legitimate. Not sure how long it’ll last.
The question is, what the hell do I get? I can’t spend too much.
Oooh which ones are on sale?
Off topic in terms of Criterion, but I’m kind of puzzled by B&N. I was in a B&N a few days ago, shopping for a work-related book. I found the one I wanted and saw it was $59.99. I checked the online price on my phone (B&N’s site, not Amazon) and saw it was only 20-some dollars. I took the book to their customer service and asked if they match their own online price. “We don’t do that.” Puzzled, I placed the book back on the shelf and drove home and ordered it online (with free shipping, too). Why in the world don’t they match their online prices in-store? I would understand if they were franchised, but I’m certain that’s not the case.
@DFF – Take a gander – http://www.blu-ray.com/deals/?sortby=time&category=bluray&covers=7&popularity=average&genre=all&studioid=70&packaging=
I only bought one btw, Yi Yi – I’ve never seen it but I’ve heard nothing but positive things.
I’ve been meaning to see Yi Yi. I’m moving to Taiwan soon, so I figured I’d better get around to it before then.
@ Taka – hold on to your hat:
Yi Yi was lame.
@Arkadin – you serious? That’s awesome. What will you be doing there?
@Santino – well, you didn’t like In Bruges so your opinion is invalid ;)
Ha! My opinion was invalid long before In Bruges came along!
@santino: are you serious? Yi Yi is lame? You and I probably didn’t see the same movie…
I didn’t care for it.
Although I accept that it’s a Mubian wet dream.
Oh well.
God damn, they should make them Region 0.
@Santino – as long as we’re in agreement! I’ll let you know if I like Yi Yi or not.
Any news on B&N? Though I just bought 4 from amazon just now hehe.

Yeah, firmly in the Yi Yi “not doing it for me” camp. I’ve only had one viewing, and based on how lauded it is I’ll prob have to give it another chance someday (and other political concessions I have no intention of honoring.)
Now, In Bruges on there other hand… there’s a decent film ;)
Just got this notice via email. Until Saturday. Amazing deal. Must have collection.

Argh! The universe seems to really want me to blind-buy that set! :/ Have they added the films to hulu yet?
I agree with Ari. The BBS Set is a must-have. It’s probably my second favorite Criterion release (after the Cassavetes set).
@ DFFOO
Just buy it. It’s very worth it. Strangely enough, I find myself revisiting “Head” more than the established classics of the set. Great transfers of great movies with great supplements. I"m with Santino. It’s a must-have and one of my favorite Criterion editions.
Ok now there are some Criterion blu rays for MORE than 50% off!!
Including:
Diabolique for $18.99
3 Women for $18.99
Black Narcissus for $18.49
The Red Shoes for $19.49
The Thin Red Line for $18.99
Sweet Smell of Success for $19.49
Yi Yi for $19.49
and a ton more! And then even more at about 50% off and even more at a little less than 50% off! WTF?
Also, there’s the OOP Pierrot le Fou blu ray for $28.99. I’m convinced that Criterion is still printing those.
Any others?
Damn it! Every time I get out, they SUCK ME BACK IN!!
Thin Red Line is a must buy, especially if you are a home theater enthusiast. Its still the best Criterion disc technically.
is the Altman commentary on 3 Women decent?
