Pretty sure the sale ends.. TONIGHT!
Also, first Criterion..? I don’t know what…
Blow Up is a good first Criterion!
Anyway, this time around I got:
Stan Brakhage set
Hollis Frampton set
Jean Vigo set
Tokyo Drifter
Branded to Kill
Revanche
Bigger than Life
Anatomy of a Murder
…so much for going light on it this time…
@ Drunken – The Jean Vigo set is absolutely phenomenal. Definitely one of the best values out of the whole Criterion Collection set of releases.
Dang it. I KNEW there was a release I forgot to get. And sure enough, it was Three Outlaw Samurai. Friggin’ A.
@T.J. the sale is still going through the end of Tuesday afaik.
don’t feel like going to B&N tomorrow, might just order Hollis Frampton and revanche
My total haul this sale:
Being John Malkovich
La Haine
Army of Shadows
Amarcord
The Rules of the Game
Last Year at Marienbad
Certified Copy
Summer Interlude
Summer with Monika
House (Hausu)
I still have another set on my cart but I haven’t bought them yet. The problem is most of the blurays I bought were still sealed and I don’t have time to watch them :D Is the sale until July 31 only? :D
Harold & Maude (13 bucks)
hell yes,I’m a happy film head. the sale was still on when i went to B&N today……needless to say i got my Criterion on :P
can’t forget about ECLIPSE either ;)
Not exactly 50% off, but for Blu-Ray collectors, Barnes & Noble now has this sale in progress:
Criterion Collection
Buy 2, Get a 3rd Free on Criterion Collection Blu-rays
Is there going to be a 50% off sale in November?
Not one of the many Criterion DVDs I’ve tried to put in my B&N shopping bag are eligible for the Buy-2-get-1-free deal :(
(Blu-Rays only!)
The Criterion Collection in 2.5 minutes.
OKAY, that? ^
Is AMAZING.
If only SID AND NANCY was in the Collection again.
Or is it and I haven’t noticed?
Awesome, @House of Leaves.
Caved and used the B&N Blu Ray sale.
- Complete Jean Vigo
- Late Spring
- Breathless (cha-ching!)
The latest Sight and Sound poll inspired me to own the top 100 on Blu Ray MUAHAHA
@House of Leaves: loved it.
50% off on CC website for 24 hrs. Enter FLASH at checkout.
The Flash sale is tempting but have to save up money if I’m going to move to LA next year. Anyways nothing that has come out this year that I didn’t get already in July is noteworthy in my opinion. November’s releases are the ones I am looking forward to with Godard’s Weekend and Passolini’s Trilogy.
I know a lot of shop at Barnes & Noble, especially during the Criterion Collection sales…but heads up that there was a major data breach.

Any word on the winter sale? Wasn’t it november-ish last year?

Just wanted to share an Amazon link for an absolute steal on Miss Julie. $6! And free shipping on orders of $25 and more.
I ordered Les Enfants Terribles along with two copies of Miss Julie to bring my order to free shipping.
Link for Miss Julie below: (and I just feel like typing Miss Julie a fourth time for good measure)

I was at Barnes and Noble today to drop off an application. It starts tomorrow through the 19th or 20th.
WTF? How is Miss Julie so cheap? Thanks for posting, TJ!
I just bought my copy! Thanks!
Welcome! And I checked it again just now, and it’s still good!

Picking up Blow Out tomorrow- and just in time! I confess it will be my first Criterion.
