The guy should have gotten it in 1969
Yeah, that’s terribly overdue. As I expressed elsewhere, I took it as a given he got that YEARS ago.
This all makes me so sad..

I think me and my friend decided soon we’re gonna watch some Dennis Hopper movies and get drunk off Pabst all day.
One of the best lines. I specifically bought Pabst one day last summer and got whacked at a BBQ in honour of Hopper. Cheers to his star. Bad-ass actor. Hope he’s around for a while still.
I am not sure if any of you are aware of this but the poor man has terminal prostate cancer. He looks terrible in this photograph.
Alright! Let’s hit the fucking road!
@ BEN
Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed… He looks awfully drawn and frail. Never thought Hopper could ever look fragile…
His cancer is terminal?
Yes. I think it was confirmed by his lawyer.
In any case, this photo breaks my heart.
when i first read this thread, i read it as “Haneke? Fuck that shit! Pabst White Ribbon!”
Hopper is too sick to undergo chemotherapy. I think it’s clear why they game him the star now…
I can’t believe he’s leaving us so soon…. At least he has an impressive body of work to leave behind for all of us to admire. And of course a family he loves (let’s not talk about the whole divorce bit).
P.S.
Apparently his son Henry Hopper (born 1990) is to star in Gus Van Sant’s new film, Restless. Harry is also an artist/filmmaker who went to Cal Arts…looks like all eyes are on him next..
