In addition to my Anno Hideaki suggestion on some other random page I’m not sure where just before it was closed, could we get a bit more love for the great films of aviation like The Battle of Britain, The Hunters, The Bridges of Toko Ri etc. ? I see Twelve O’Clock High, but there are many, many missing. If only for the fact that these movies have original, working Spitfires, Hurricaines, B-17’s, Thunderbolts, Corsairs, Wildcats, etc. makes them altogether extraordinary. Never again will we see anything like The Battle of Britain without CGI. These are some of the grand classics in my oppinion. I mean really, there is so much attention paid to obscure Ozu and nothing on the Battle of Britain? That, messires, is a tragedy.
I was in a forum not too long ago where we had widescreen avatars instead of boring square ones. It allowed for people to make their favorite frame their avatar. I vote for avatars, too.
I use MUBI as a film discovery tool by adding films to my watch list. I would love it if I could go into my ‘Wants to Watch’ section and sort the films by date added (as it is right now), director, country, year, and user ratings. It would make finding specific films easier.
All ya really need to do is add the ‘sort by’ options menu like the one on the official Criterion website.
But then again browsing page by page gets a little gruesome… any help would be appreciated!
When I am going though someone’s favorite films I’d like to see how many stars they gave it not how many stars dose the film have on average.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO RATE AT HALF STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think maybe a tab specifically for PS3-centric topics would be in order now.
( ^ also, prohibit Ulicain from further abuse of exclamation points ;) )
I second Matt’s suggestion. There are too many separate threads by Mubi rookies with PS3-linked accounts complaining about the dearth of available films.
I’m actually against this suggestion. We don’t need community segragation. Perhaps technical issues but not a “PS3” section.
Maybe it’s been upped already but the website could definitely need a “country criteria” search. As with the directors, when you click on their name you can get their work, here you could just browse “chinese” movies for exemple.
It would be great to list wall post movie reviews on the main page. Also seconding user WXYZ above.
I think the fact that two separate threads by two different users urging for a search for films listed by country is a valid point. This used to exist and I have no idea why. It is very useful when one wishes to explore a certain nations filmography, when one is compiling list on a country or area or like myself looking to add submissions for countries which do not have the proper representation in the database. What makes it more frustrating is this search used to exist and was taken away, and even after two threads asking for this nobody has bothered to explain WHY? So can we be told when and if this search will become available again rather than being IGNORED!!!!
Every single pirate site has a better search engine. Please add data to narrow the search, Country, Director, Actor… and an option to search for available movies only.
Also, I can’t see the movie total rating after I rate it, all I see is my own rate. Doesn’t make much sense to me…
Thanks!
we can already search by country, genre and even decade at the sametime on the PS3. The search sort function on the PS3 is quite simple but fantastic. The PC could really benefit from being able to sort in the same way.
PS3?? So all the rest, who do not use PS3, is paying MUBI to support PS3 and simply forget the website in this mess??
Flash, PS3… I am starting to doubts about this project here. You keep doing this because you have sort of a monopoly now… but wait till some other comes with a serious universal web project.
BTW, does anybody know of another site, besides Netflix?
Thanks!
Luiz calm down… in many ways you can search in other more vigorous ways on PC. the interface is much more lean on the PS3.
The main problem with this site is that you should be able to see what you’re friends rated films under there favorite film section because at the moment you can just see in dark grey the average rating for the film or in green what you rated the film. There really should be a third colour there so you can know what they rated the film. If they had that the site would be perfect.
What are you talking about, WXYZ? You can already see the ratings by those you follow on each film profile. Does this mean the site is perfect? Obviously not.
I find it unfair that although the country search function was / is / will be uneven to the utmost core, it SHOULD be a necessary option because most of the times, the country production IS correct and I do hope the MUBI team considers re-establishing this function again, in addition to a simpler, more focused way of searching countries and not just browsing pages till you reach Cameroon or Netherlands etc.
This maybe a small issue, but can an e-mail notification be sent when anyone becomes a fan of any of my lists? Instead of just my followers.
It gives me a jolt when I discover new fans of my lists that I didn’t even know were fans…
Has anyone else noticed that the edit feature for a post seems to be wonky?. When I now edit a post within the 30 min. time frame, it seems my recent changes sometimes disappear or I can’t add something after the fact when I save it again. Is this happening to anyone else? I am always editing after the fact and this is frustrating.
Change the name from MUBI to MUVI
Avatars for the forums.
Why is it allowed to change profile names? Sometimes I don’t know who I am talking to.
I’ve made this suggestion a few times before since the early part of the year and the response from the Auteurs/Mubi team was that it was a great idea but they were a bit busy. I thought it would be about time to post the suggestion again:
My suggestion is for the “favorite auteurs” section of a user’s profile page. I would like it if this section worked similarly to the display shown for the “favorite films” section. Currently anytime you load a user’s page, four randomly chosen titles and images are shown from the user’s list of “favorite films”. However for the “favorite auteurs” section, it always shows the names of the last ten directors the user became a fan of. I would like it if the “favorite auteurs” section also showed a random selection of the user’s favorites.
Thank you.
It seems that are still problems with the Mubi-Facebook connection, or? Most of the films I added here to my like-list were not posted on Facebook.
If there were a sort function on the films we have rated and the films we have become fans of, that would be cool. So instead of films just coming in the order which we fanned them or rated, we can sort them just as the main films tab, by year, by director, by Rating, etc, etc, etc.
We should be able to search by year.
Hi all. To be more efficient in tabulation and collecting suggestions, we’ve migrated our support to Get Satisfaction. Please click the Feedback or FAQ AND SUPPORT links at the footer of the page and use the forum there for suggestions. Many thanks!
Hi, I have noticed that in the synopsis and the directors/cast profiles sometimes the titles of films are in italics (which I think is the way it should be) and some other times they’re put in “quotation marks” (which is a bit worse) and many times they’re simply without any of them. Whenever I make a submission I always put the required text in italics, but after, when the film/profile comes in the database the italics vanish.
I think it’d be nice if there were some rules for editing texts and people followed them.
Thanks :)

The Mubi-Facebook connection barely works and needs to be fixed so I can bombard the people at my high school’s news feeds with art cinema.
