@sekzee
not only that, we even know your grandma makes the best peanut butter cookies of all time..

but seriously, we always read this and a lot of things we deployed over the past few months is based on the feedback on this thread.. what’s different now is that we decided to be more active keeping you in the loop and communicating with you why we do what we do..

thank you..

There should be a “Liked” feature in the pull down menu of Lists. I have no idea what I’ve liked, and would like a nice simple way to be reminded.

I had another idea, but it escapes me.

it would be cool if there was like a favorite actors list, since you can now become a fan of them.

I would love to have a customizable music player on our profile! Is that at all possible? That way every time someone visits my profile they would hear this ;)

In the same vein as the Film Database additions, there should be a way we can edit a person, be it directors, actors, cinematographers, etc.

So many people’s profiles are just empty, and pulling from us, the members, they’d be nice and thought out (just look at the hard work Grey Daisies and Somnambulist have given us.)

I think they could go through moderation, of course, as we don’t want any off the wall quote up there, or some crazy derogatory picture for an actor, but it’s an idea nonetheless.

I’m sure that someone has probably mentioned this, and it’s a little personal peeve of mine, but could Louis Lumiere be upgraded to an auteur? :)

And please, for the sake of art and humanity, display only the original title of the films (with the international English title beneath). Most of the times it’s displayed wrong. For example: The Ring is called “A kör”, The Sixth Sense is called “Hatodik érzék” etc. (I don’t even know what language this is lol).

1. I have just noticed a glitch with the Lists feature. After making several lists, I have noticed that often I can’t access my latest list on the film title page, where we have the option to ‘add to list’. As our latest list is always at the bottom, for some films it is hidden. You don’t seem to have the option to scroll down to retrieve it. Can this be fixed?

Of course, perhaps I have made enough of these bleepin’ lists already, in which case this means I should just stop the lists! OK – point taken.

2. Another possibility re threads: Would there be any interest in having threads we have created show up in our Profile? Currently, we just have any thread we post to displayed, including those we created. I am not sure if this would be possible or if anyone would like that feature. On my old account, I created many different threads, but had no way of easily accessing them, unless I remembered the title and used the search function.

This is just a kind of random idea I had (and it may have already been mentioned), but it might be interesting if, on a film’s page, it showed all of the lists it was featured in. Certainly, there would be a lot, but maybe you could show four, and then have a “more” section, or whatever.

I have tried to clarify 1. above for Efe. What happened when I made my 7th list (!) – which was called ‘My Essential Russian/Soviet Films’ – several films I tried to add to the list I couldn’t add because I couldn’t see the list I had just made which was out of sight. You couldn’t scroll down to it, either.

The latest list you make always shows up at the bottom of all your others whenever you try to add a film to any list. In this case, several films I called up did not have enough space for my last list to appear. I have sent Efe an email re this. Has anyone else made enough lists to have this same problem? Perhaps I am the only one to have gotten so carried away with the Lists feature…

@joe,
we are verifying the bug and will fix it next week. thank you!

@zachary
that’s not a random idea.. that’s a great idea. putting in feature list and will prioritize accordingly. thanks.

Thanks, Efe. That was quick! Now, no one can stop me making more bleepin’ lists – muhaha!

Efe, thanks! Sorry I didn’t notice the quick response time!

Would it be possible to see how many votes a film has gotten? Sometimes one might run across a film that has a very low rating, but it’s only because one person may have rated it, or something, and he might be inclined to not search it out. I know that you can sort through the films by popularity, but this just seems like it might help, in some way.

And the half star system please!

Glemaud

over 2 years ago

Glad to see the lists-a-film-is-on feature be implemented.

And it’s been suggested before, and I still disagree with a half star system. It’s just not necessary. Don’t be scared to give something a 2 star, none of this 2.5 business.

over 2 years ago

Do you really disagree? Maybe what you are trying to say it’s not a priority and I agree but the half star system would improve the ratings and make the site better :)

See this. In general the people rate based in 10 stars or points not five.

efe

Zachary, the number of people who rated is in the roadmap. expect to see it very soon.

Misael, we went back and forth on the half-rating but the general consensus is that it just doesn’t matter. in aggregate, you are going to have equally accurate rating of the film in both cases. and whenever we are not convinced, we lean towards simplicity, and full rating is simpler. sorry.

over 2 years ago

Ok EFE and GLEMAUD I understand… for the sake of simplicity. Makes sense. Thanks for the response.

I’d like to cast another vote for an index for lists we have ‘become a fan’ of. I would really like to revisit these lists from time to time but, with the exception of a few, I have no way of finding all of them.

McBean

Please can we have an ignore user function. Certain people just irritate me, and I’d like to be able to turn them off. This would be especially useful on ‘troll days’ when all the pics of that well endowed chap appear.

Nohea

over 2 years ago

Rumplesink, is there any ‘protocol’ in place for when that happens? I mean, is it more helpful to admin if we stop posting to allow them to take care of the troll – or does it even matter if we stop communicating after having flagged the post? I suppose my question is best put to admin directly.

ralch

Nohea, I have a “favorite lists” section in my lists feature. (Thanks, Auteurs)

Hmm, not sure I follow that Ralch. Is that a feature for those who have prepared lists? I don’t have that feature :(
