After my last post to this thread, after Round 2, I was able to see several more outstanding films. Highlights for me were: City of Life & Death, Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks (China); Bhumika: The Role, The Name of A River (India); The Commissar (Russia); The Conformist (Italy – seen before but rewatched for the event); The Human Condition, Sound of the Mountain (Japan); The Marriage of Maria Braun (Germany); Silences of the Palace (Africa). I enjoyed all the great 1930’s films selected by team China and all those wonderful Satyajit Ray films for team India picked for each match in the final rounds.
